Invisibility
Invisibility
I was out for a run with a friend of mine yesterday and she told me that on the way to meet up with me along the canal she had encountered a "group of druggies" (her words not mine). Whilst they had not hindered or harmed her in any way she was clearly spooked by the encounter and what she perceived as a potentially bad situation.
This got me thinking about methods of minimising risk in such situations and naturally wondered what magical solutions there might be for this.
I searched the topics here and found "The Magical Art of Invisibility" originally posted by Phoenixfire. The thread was interesting and useful and contained:-
INVISIBLE SHIELDING
This is a good technique to use when you want to quietly fade into the background, such as
when you have to walk through a group of cat-calling yobs, or you're at work and the boss is
on the warpath and looking for someone to pick on. I used to practice it on the tram on the
way to work, until I began to notice that the conductors weren't selling me tickets. I'd be sitting
there holding my money out and they'd walk right past me! It's a simple procedure. Ground and
centre yourself. Start with creating a shield, with whatever technique you find most comfortable.
Then visualise that the shield is a little bit fuzzy, so you seem a bit blurry to anyone watching.
Gradually blur the shield, and begin to blend it, and yourself, into the colours and shapes of
your surroundings. It's a bit hard to explain, but it's like visualising yourself as changing colour
to suit your surroundings like a chameleon. The shield acts like a veil which makes you less
visible because you don't stand out from your surroundings as much. If you normally like a
mirrored shield, you can make it bounce back light so it mirrors your surroundings visually.
I am wondering whether something of a servitor nature could be created so that a shield of fuzzyment (hey, I think I have just invented a word!) is deployed by, say, the snap of the fingers.
I would be very much interested in what folks think and can suggest to create something workable.

Re: Invisibility
I think it should be possible, yes. One thing I'd say though is that practising the technique on a regular basis, you should find in time you can do it at any moment without preparation (well, you know, apart from the months of practise, lol).
Another technique springs to mind, one I've used with some success. It's from "Urban Shaman", I think it's referred to as the "lovelight". Not to be mixed up with "white light", which can have other connotations, this is.. letting the love at the core of your being shine through into the world around you. It's very disarming. The technique basically involves visualising the love within you/love of the divine shining out as a light through you. Know that you're safe, and no harm will come to you, and be without fear. It's not invisibility, I know, but it's another tool that can do the job.

Thanks, Vashta.
Just been making butternut squash soup for lunch and mulling over this subject...
How about a kind of guardian entity that shields you with the fuzziness when name is spoken. Just as I have St.....ng an entity that goobles up any nasty entities that invade my energy body.

Re: Invisibility
I've been considering making a servitor for those same reasons, when I just want to slip in somewhere unnoticed.
Wild cats shall meet with desert beasts, satyrs shall call to one another, there shall the Lilith repose, and find for herself a place to rest.
Re: Invisibility
That should be feasible too, yeah, I guess that's down to how you program the servitor. What you give it for a trigger, you could use a name, a sigil, a hand-position, anything. I'm reminded of Terry Pratchett's magic locks here, lol.
Re: Invisibility
Hi All
It would be great if we could work up something here.
A servitor that disgorges a net of shimmery stuff around you as you make the sign..?
A chameleon servitor that exerts an influence that blends you into the surroundings..?
Any ideas, folks?

Re: Invisibility
There are a few ways to do it, one is, like you said, blending into the background, like as if you've just blurred yourself with photoshop, I'm not sure about the shimmering, do you mean like a mirage? I'd guess that could work. When I use something like this, I hold the intention, and visualise myself as just not there, like I'm watching from 2 foot behind my body, and in the space I should be, there's nothing. Whatever makes the most sense to you, but I think I personally get the best results from the "not there" or blurring methods, but you could try a couple and see what works best for you

I find that The Force has an effect on the weak-minded
I also find that if you only have invisibility, people walk into you - you need an exclusion zone around you as well...

Both excellent points, Moth.Moth wrote:I find that The Force has an effect on the weak-minded

Don't laugh (cuz I know ya will), but the Ninja apparently were quite good at hiding out in the open.
It is quite possible with practice to Will oneself not to be seen.
I used to practice this skill when I was a young hoodlum with reason to not be noticed. [rolleyes]
Although, it has been quite some time since I exercised the skill, I found that it's not so much making yourself invisible as it is making yourself unnoticable.
That's where Moth's Force comment enters into it. When you're in a crowded place like a Mall or a subway/tube station,
most of The Herd are so self absorbed that it's very easy to go entirely unnoticed.
