I was doing a reading with a spread I found on a website. The position that was supposed to "represent people, new ideas or things that can help you" got the Magician reversed. There were things in the description for the reversed meaning that had to do with having a lack of self-confidence and this was actually something that was mentioned in a couple of other cards. I can't imagine it was telling me that having a lack of self-confidence is going to be something that will help me, could it possibly be trying to say that I should increase my self-confidence?
Another thing I was wondering about was it also mentioned "trickery or deception". Could it have been telling me that it would be helpful for me to use trickery or deception in some way? Especially, since the card that was to "represent the actions needed to improve your chances of success" said the self-confidence thing? I mean, I suppose it could just be repeating it because it was true and perhaps they cover the same things, but maybe the Magician would be trying to tell me something different...
Any other interpretations or advice would be helpful/appreciated, too. Thanks!

Hey You...
Maybe it was just cautioning you not to delude yourself into being over-confident...

You mean like... don't over use things like magick to achieve my goal? I thought it might be something like that, too.

Re: What was the Magician trying to tell me?
I agree with TheSeeker.
I use the Magician (I call it "The Sorcerer") to identify myself in my Tarot Readings. The definition I give to the Magician Reversed is "The Charlatan."
Deception (or tricks, what have you) are something used in warfare. Not really useful for spiritual persuits. The practice of Deception spiritually leads one into delusion. (Which is a question we should should continually ask ourselves in our own persuits.)
