I just found a virus of some kind on my computer. It's called "DoubleClick". Apparently, it's a cookie, but I'm assuming since their calling it a virus and my antivirus called it a worm that it's a nastier than usual version. Anyway, I don't really know where I picked it up at, but their info on it said that it can be picked up from downloading things and also from IRC channels and those are two things I've definitely done lately, so...
Has anyone else here that has been using chat picked up DoubleClick? I"m absolutely not saying that I picked it up in chat... But I just don't know. If no one else is having any issues, then I must have gotten it somewhere else.
Also, the info doesn't mention Windows 7 as a platform that it's on, but I nonetheless have Windows 7 AND the virus, so...still check even if your platform isn't listed.
Here's the info on it from my antivirus's webpage:

I've had this before and a friend had to remove it manually for me as my Norton didn't catch it.It's malicious adware and is a bugger to deal with once it's in.
I didn't get it from chat or on here,it was one of my grandkids who likes gaming sites online.
You might need to purge and reinstall your OS,if nothing else works and manual delete is rather tricky,so you need to be careful.
Here is a manual delete guide, for anyone who might need it and this page has tools and other info too, there are a few available for free online.I was more than a little annoyed about my Norton failing to get this,at the time:

Hmm...I wonder if it's still on my computer. My anti-virus said it neutralized it, and as far as I know I deleted it from my computer, but... who knows? Maybe something's still there and I'm not aware.
P.S. - Have you ever used Norton 360? We bought that recently and it won't work. it's been a huge hassle and I've....planned on communicating with tech support for it, but [crymore] ...so I haven't yet. It's not even on mine anymore at all, because of an issue that may or may not have been associated with it being on my computer, my computer wouldn't start one day so I had to go back to a restore point and the program wound up getting erased.
And thanks for sharing your experience with the virus, and the manual delete tips, too, Nahemah.
