Relevance of planetary animals

Post by Gwawinapterus »

So far, I've seen many lists about planetary works featuring lists of animals associated with specific planets, like snakes for Mercury and dragons for Saturn, but has anyone actually made planetary rituals with animals in mind.

Based on Agrippa's work, I plan to make a ritual focusing on the Sun and the crocodile. I've had some intuitory messages about making a "crocodile armour". I'm under the impression it is a spiritual armour of a sorts, though I am not clear about what it entails.

Any advice?

I'd like to help, but I'm not that familiar with what you are asking.

Would this be better as a Ceremonial question, given that it's Agrippa related?

I've read Agrippa, but not studied it for a long time,so I'm very rusty and I don't practise from a ceremonial perspective, though this sounds very interesting, would the crocodile be representative of Egyptian deity?

I hope someone knows more than me,but I'll go read around anyway,in case I find something of use.

Agreed, this isn't a Shamanic issue. Agrippa draws it into the Ceremonial realm, as does the notion of correspondences; which in my experience falls outside the repetoir and concern of the pure Shamanic practitioner.
The crocodile/Egypt thing your thinking of is Sobek, who was primarily a martial god and tied to the power of the throne through affiliation with Ra --the Sun God.

Yep.Sobek and Ra.

I was wondering about the armour and thought it might connect to this?:

You might find IAM's Solar Grounding Ritual interesting.Just saying. It's described in this thread above.

Don't try taking it through Customs, they've got a ban on the import/export of Endangered Species...

...sorry, I couldn't resist. [twisted]

Thank you for the replies.

It seems to have been related to Ammut's role in exorcise. It seems I should do something like the solar grounding ritual, only in regards to invoking the armour.

It's my opinion that these concepts of planetary associations of animals have any connection to Shamanic practices. The totem animals are far beyond these limitations.
