Another moderator

Could we please have another moderator, seeing as we only have one admin and one moderator. This will ensure that if there are any times a moderator is needed there will be more chance that one will be available.

This has been discussed already,actually.

We felt that as the forum grows it will indeed become necessary to increase staffing levels,but that we are not yet busy enough to justify this action.

Ultimately,it's Vashta's decision,of course.

But,just to confirm,I am here on at least four seperate visits daily,so any issues are looked at within a short space of time and anything which I can not attend to myself immediately is flagged for Vashta's input,asap.

Sheesh more moderators so somebody will be around to kill spammers more often? Or change the setting so you have to approve of new accounts? I know it will be more work but this spam is getting ridicolous, and its near impossible to find active threads as it is now.. I'll help if you want and there is anything I can do.

This is what you normally don't see,cos I usually kill any that gets through before it gets too bad.

I'm here a lot and I do more than is apparent on the open forum,but the recent flood swamped the filters and slowed us down for a bit.

Sorted now.

If something similar happens again, [hopefully not] please bear with us.We will get it and we do occasionally need to update security measures,so it can take a bit of time.

I'm kinda stubborn like that,I once spent several hours doing so,ages ago and my wrist was sore all day after,point click,point click,point click,over and over and over,out of topic/in again,round n about...and so on,lol...[mad] [rolleyes]

Things seem to be running a lot smoother at this point: I have a suspicion the spambots have finally and completely overcome captcha, but I don't have much to base that on other than the sudden surge of spam.

I've removed the captcha from registration and instead we've got a plugin that looks up spam blacklists whenever someone tries to log in or register, and I'm happy to report we haven't had to delete anything (except a stray thread that I think was posted before the change) since. I'm getting a notification email every time someone gets blocked as a spammer, and I've been getting about 50 emails a day for blocked spammers.

Hopefully, back to normal ^_^
