Successful Banishing -- what does it feel like?

Post by Elmer Romero »

Uber-noob question... and it may be that I've already answered it for myself, but...

One or two times when I've done/tried to do bits of work without clearing the space with a banishing at the beginning, I've had enough results that I'm beginning to get a sense of what the gnostic-trance is like and what kinds of (paranormal 'sensory' impressions) happen when you're in that state... BUT... when I'm organized and disciplined and work on banishing before I try to do anything else, usually I get nothing.

So... I'm expecting that when a Banishing takes hold, that I'll have some kind of cue that tells me it's safe to move forward; am I wrong? It could be just a clearly-sensed click of certainty or some specific kind of visual/auditory cue... What does the experience of Banishing a work-space feel like for youse practitioners?

I did one time have a momentary image of myself encased in s/m bondage/mummy wrappings, which I understood as meaning that I was enclosed and protected... and last night (breakthrough?) while I was concentrating on Banishing, I entered a hypnogogic/dream state while still awake and the first bit of that dreaming involved a golden/bronze (whatever) tablet floating in the darkness that I understood as being like a credential, indicating that I was good to go. I thought of that as Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket... and if it turns out that I can use that as a recurring symbol, I reckon I'll know I have that initial fundamental baby-skill down.

Look forward to thoughts from the big-people table...

cheers

First, let us make one thing very clear. You will often times read in certain books, and on certain websites, that a banishing will somehow only banish negative energy away. This is complete nonsense. A good banishing, such as becoming good at the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram, for example, will banish ALL energetic influences in your workspace. I suppose the best way to describe how a good banishing feels is empty and sterile, yet spiritual within yourself.

Big people table? I thought I was chained up in the basement.

The reason you do a banishing is to establish a psychic clean space both inside and out. You clean your kitchen before you cook, right? Of course you do, or else all the onion juice on the cutting board will contaminate whatever you're making. Some types of banishings even go so far as to target specific types of energies -- the GBR of the Hexagram is designed for planetary energies, for example. Still, the basic purpose is the same.

How you can tell the room is banished? It has a sort of very squeaky bleached clean open receptive feeling. Suppose you walk into the living room and the dog is watching something invisible. The room has a strange, "thick" feeling to it and you feel there is something there. Being the smart weezard you are, you decide to kick the invisible thing out. You take your breaths, draw your cross, vibrate your names and define the circle and pentagrams ...

And then you look down at the dog, who is staring at you like you've lost your shit. The thick feeling is gone, and the room has an empty, aired-out sensation, so crisp and clean that you almost wonder if you imagined the thick feeling. Banishing successful, you troop into the kitchen for some Froot Loops. That's how it goes.
