I agree, tough question. In no certain order:

1) Liber Falxifer 1 & 2 - good for lhp witchcraft and working with the death current.
2) Mystical and Magical System of the A.'. A.'. - course work for the A.'. A.'.
3) Regardie's Golden Dawn (New Falcon version) - GD from the guy who is credited for re-starting the GD tradition.
4) Essential Golden Dawn - great read for an intro into what you would learn in the GD tradition.
5) Self-initiation into the Golden Dawn Tradition - self paced, self-initiation through the Portal grade.
6) Enochian Vision Magick - A MUST have for working with Enochian magic.
7) Astral Dynamics - Agreed, the BEST book on learning astral projection.
8 ) Satanic Bible - For the philosophy, not the practices included in the book.
9) Necronomicon - Ive read this a dozen or more times. I have a huge soft spot for this book.
10) The fiction of HP Lovecraft.

The Necronomicon isn't a real book, is it?

Does it matter if its real or not? ;) "Simon" could have pulled the Necronomicon straight from his ass, but the fact is it still works lol

Like Silver Ravenwolf didn't make it all up, either. Or Mathers and Wescott, for that matter.

Do you REALLY think that some book called Celtic Faerie Wicca contains the ancient unbroken knowledge of a lost but persecuted group of the pure and honest followers of some ancient goddess cult that were illiterate and left no records but someone transmitted all their Special Sekrit Knowledge to their descendents through their Books of Shadows (again, peasants can't fucking read) and their descendants are now generously making it available to YOU on Amazon for only 9.95? Doesn't that strike you as somewhat suspect?

Necronomicon made up. Good God.

Hold on, Azkhet; you and Aftiel may not be on the same page. Be patient; (s)he may not be aware of Simon's Necronomicon. (neophyte... fourth post... )

The Necronomicon, treated as a fictional book, appeared in HP Lovecraft's stories. Forty-fifty-sixty-seventy-eighty years later, a magickal treatise called the Necronomicon was published that probably has zero legitimacy as far as "really being" the book Lovecraft wrote about, but as a magickal text it's useful.

I took it to be "is the Necronomicon real?" being "is that cheap black book I keep seeing in Hastings in the occult section really legit?" and yes, it is - made up, but legit.
