What symbol is this and the meaning?
What symbol is this and the meaning?
Hello and sorry if it's wrong section. A week ago i discovered this symbol(picture). A big triangle with 3 circles in each corner, inside the triangle there is a 5, 6, or 8 cornered figure(can't remember exactly) and in each corner of the figure there are small circles that fit inside the triangle. Sorry for bad english and thanks in advance.

Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
What was the context? The meaning of a symbol depends a lot on the context in which it's being used.
"The path of the Sage is called
'The Path of Illumination'
he who gives himself to this path
is like a block of wood
that gives itself to the chisel-
cut by cut it is honed to perfection"
- DDJ, Verse 27
"It's still magic even if you know how it's done." - Terry Pratchett

Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
So a symbol has a meaning that only depends on the cotext.
Anyway I found the symbol in a tv show the context wasn't so clear, i'll rewatch the episode.
I tought that a symbol has a meaning already since it's created ex: devil trap, antipossession symbol, etc.

Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
Well, commonly triangles are used in spirit evocation. You put a black mirror in the middle area (where you drew the ring of circles) and the spirit appears there. Perhaps that's where the TV people got it.
Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
If it was in a TV show it probably doesn't mean anything, it'd just be something cool that they came up with to look suitably 'occult-ish' for their needs.

Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
I'm sorry it's the wrong symbol in the first picture.
Here's the correct drawing of the symbol.

it means messenger of God by the tv show pov.

Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
Hmmm- well according to common mythology the "messenger of the gods" was Hermes- from the Olympian pantheon. But this symbol I'm pretty sure is just made up for a tv show-it means messenger of God by the tv show pov.
never-the-less if you are a hard core chaote (not really me, I'm kind of more liberal) then you would use this anyway as it is the belief which is the power, not that actual symbol per say.

Go on,what was the tv show...
I'm curious now,it's not Supernatural or summat similar, is it?

Re: What symbol is this and the meaning?
@Nahemah yes, the tv show is supernatural, got the symbol in the episode 21 season 8, when Sam is searching in a notebook and discover the symbol, I know it's a little silly to 'eat' everything a tv show gives, but that symbol reminded me of something similar and i am very curious about its real meaning(if there's one). Thanks for the reply guys.
