Unusual Symbol
Hey everyone. As some of you may know, I have little to do with magick of the ritual, symbolic, and summony chaotic grande kind (other than Druidic...)...and a client just brought me an image of a symbol he found sketched behind pictures and under the rugs of a hotel room in the hotel he owns. I have no idea what it is other than the writing looks middle eastern. Perhaps some of you can enlighten me on the source and purpose of the image, and I can then in turn shed some light on this for my client. Thank you all in advance!

Re: Unusual Symbol
So I was still doing some digging, and apparently this is the First Seal of Venus? Does anyone know why it would be written all over a hotel room? The original intention states that it solidifies friendships...which makes it an odd thing to write all over some random hotel room.

Re: Unusual Symbol
This looks like a Planetary Pentacle or a Talisman from the Key of Solomon. I'm at work so looking it up may take time. It is actually one side of the talisman but I should be able to find it.
Update:
The first thing that strikes me is that this is not how a talisman or pentacle is supposed to be used. They are charged and worn. The complete collection of images of the Pentacle are on the website linked below and I did not find this one. The Pentacles are used for treating with Planetary Spirits (see link). I can't think why a Ceremonial Magician would put a Pentacle under a rug!
I still cannot match this image. I will keep looking and it may be some variation. My SUSPICION at this point is that this may be someone who does not know what they are doing or is trying to fake something. But the jury is still out.

Re: Unusual Symbol
Thanks! I dug until I found this, also. It is the First Sign of Venus, apparently. The mystery now is why someone would inscribe this all over behind pictures and mirrors and under rugs in a random hotel room in LA.Asurendra wrote:This is a Planetary Talisman from the Key of Solomon. Re: Unusual Symbol
You are correct. I missed it because it is upside down. All the more suspicious. People may find something and not completely understand it but still attempt to use it. Perhaps someone planned a seduction and hoped to use the power of Venus.

Re: Unusual Symbol
I was thinking something along those lines as well. Also, this was in LA. We all know how things go down there [bored]
Thanks for the help, Asu!

Re: Unusual Symbol
I believe the writing says in hebrew "Nogahiel Acheliah Socodiah Nangariel"
According to what I can find online it is used for friendship and love...

Re: Unusual Symbol
These are the names of the angels that control the planetary forces of Venus given in the Key of Solomon. I don't believe they are associated with the Shem HaMephorash Angels who govern the 72 demons of the Goetia.
