The Dreamtime

I know a little bit about the concept of The Dreamtime or The Dreaming from my anthropology class. I would like to know what people on this site have to say about it.

Indeed, the aboriginal belief. I suppose I should of given more information but I felt like all I would be doing is regurgitating what could be found on Wikipedia. I will probably end up posting the essay about it that I'm writing for class. It isn't really an occult piece though . In it I explain how it sounds like the 5th dimension.

I know that there are petroglyphs and sacred sites that relate to the Dreamtime ,but not a lot more than that.

I've always wondered if there are any of the old aboriginal shaman remaining in the outback who still retain the knowledge of their ancestors. It would be fascinating to be able to go and learn from them, though I'm not sure how well I'd do in the desert :p

I probably wouldn't use the word 'belief' in the context of anything to do with the Aboriginal Dreamtime. I only have limited experience to speak of though on the Dreamtime subject. Over the years though i have spent time with Aboriginal friends and groups and had some run ins with the Dream time state. i have also read up on the subject, but when I have talked to Aboriginals about their experiences of it, or about something that I may have experienced when through it, they tell me that most books don't get it, and that I am on the right track about my Impressions of it.

Here are the things I can think to say about it, but they are not some absolute truth, just my limited take on a profound subject:

1. It is Intensely real. It is Immediate and powerful, and just there regardless of what one thinks about it.

2. It is a collective and racial thing. It is the soul of the {aboriginal} community, and is not owned by one member, but rather is tied to place, community, and all members of the tribe are somehow alive within it. Whites usually have no access to it. But they may meet it, when stumbling into powerful sacred places. Whites may become part of it, but they would have to become loved and accepted by the tribe, learn the stories, learn custom, learn the significance of 'place' and learn to think like an Aboriginal.

3. It has 'areas' although they do Intersect with all the other 'areas'... This is due to the 'place' and specific tribal region.

4. it is not just the 'astral' or some 4th or 5th dimensional state. It may exist 'in' those realms, and share some of their qualities. It is also part of the very identity of the Aboriginal people. Even the sad cases of traumatised outcast and disconnected Aboriginals, who spend their days drinking, sniffing petrol and fighting - they are still somehow part of it, and 'alive' within it. My guess is because it is so racial in nature. The memory of it is (probably?) carried in the blood, despite the upbringing. Rejection from it brings acute suffering. This is why death was a preferable punishment to becoming an outcast. Their culture did not place much value on the 'individual' like we do, and for Aboriginals from a traditional setting, the very sense of 'oneself' is deeply tied to community, place, ones ancestors, and of course the dream time.

5. The entire Aboriginal culture which some say is between 80 and 200 thousand years old, was/is based around being part of it, honouring it, and the Ancestors, Gods and various Denizens that live within it.

6. it is not always friendly. There is some scary stuff within it as well.

i apologise for any errors or mis information I may have unwittingly spread. Again, I am not an expert.


But there are some amazing teachers alive, some who could give any guru or shaman from any other tradition, a genuine run for their money.

My experiences are quite personal, so I have not described them, but one day I hope for a chance to spend far more time with these teachers...

The Australian Aboriginies are not the only ones who worship the serpent. It is dominant throughout all ancient cultures.

You see, long ago, as it says in Aborininal myth, the people from the stars whre here. Personally, I take this as a historical record and thus literally. By studying this for many years, and by peiecing together my own visions, past life memories and various experiences. I am supported in saying that this ancient 'serpent', rainbow serpent, window in the sky, Dragon was in fact a wormhole, through which one travels the vast distances of space.
A simple google search will show you overwhelming evidience of such.

Now here comes my own experiences. When A wormhole links our planet with others- or perhaps a community of others- our astral planes will flood with them. Now that is yoru dreamtime.
Of course, there are other changes to our planet, everyday consciousness. For example, an open wormhole will allow 'nasties' to enter- of which few of us can handle at the moment (thank god for AC).

Such 'links' to other universes will give us consciousness of 'infinity' or 'nuit' or as the Aboriginies put it 'Never Never'.

The wornhole machine releases many dangerous energies into our astral planes. At the moment a few people occassionally see a ghost, spirit or entity- however, when the wormhole returns they will see much much more. Th eworks of HP Lovecraft are examples of this. Of course, HP Lovecraft did not handle it very well- however others have done better.

In my opinion, the big question is 'why did they leave?'- well I can only speculate. I personally feel it is so we can learn to 'grow up' ourselves- so one day we too can have our own wormhole, join the others in the multiverse and look after ourselves properly. This, of course, would include haveing a mojority of planet earth as adepts/priests. Or at least enough of us to 'absorb' those hideous energies.

Yes the serpent is to return and we are preparing for this now.

Thanks. I'd rather say the existing {aboriginal} people are adding to the dream time that already exists, and will eventually live fully within it, with all the others who already live there. But of course, that's just my limited understanding born of too few experiences, and not some authoritative perspective...

And sure it does 'seem' quite similar in a few ways to the collective unconscious, but a Racial and Australian landscape and Aussie Spirit collective semi consciousness... Vividly conscious to those who know. I have met some of the 'knowers' and they really Know that space. they are in it 24/7

I do hope I am not drifting off-topic on my first post (other than my intro). [tongue2]

I would have to describe the "Dreamtime" more as primordial, than Aboriginal. We all dream, and all culture dates back to the Aboriginals, whether our outer shell is black, white, red, brown, or yellow, (or even fricken purple).

Dreamtime, IMO, is a portal that is open to all that let themselves dive into the multi-dimensional, the eternal place of consciousness. It is in a way access to the otherworld. It has existed before mankind on Earth. It is eternity. Time does not exist. Everyone of us conscious beings in the here & now, have been there before & long after we no longer exist (physically/in the NOW). Our ancestors before us, and after us are there, and here, with us. Allit takes is an open "channel".

No matter who or what you are, as an individual conscious being, it is important to be aware and lucid in your dreams. This physical embodiment is temporary.

I am not really familiar with Australian Aboriginal tradition, nor their Dreamtime theology. I will do a little research on it. Sounds like something that would be of interest to me, as I am a dream traveler & reader.

The way I see it is that "Dreamtime" is the nonphysical realm. It has & always will exist, whether people exist in the physical, or not.
