Witches Were For Hanging, by Patricia Crowther

I've recently finished this novel. Really enjoyed it! Good plot, believable characters, story moved right along.

Wish she'd have written a sequel or two; I became quite attached to Mistress Nokes and her family!

Right.

You need to stop linking to commercial sites and posting them outside of the Bazaar folder.

The majority of your posts so far do this and you will be banned for spamming if you continue to do so.

This is not a review post,it's an advert for a book for sale.

Huh?

You're falsely accusing me. [bummed]

I'm not selling any books.

I have nothing to gain, personally, from mentioning a book I've read, and am merely nentioning what I've recently read or used, and enjoyed. Others might also enjoy them!

I'll check out that "Bazaar" folder, but I've (thought!) I'm being careful to place my posts in correct folders.

Try giving newbies more benefit of the doubt.

I have given you the benefit of the doubt already.

To review, just write about what you enjoyed about the story and by all means give the book title,as it's kinda important to do so,after all,but the live link and lack of information about the book itself and what you enjoyed about it,makes this look like indirect spamming.

We are quite strict on this issue, admittedly, but we get lots of 'drop and leave' posts that look a lot like your recent ones.

I've not deleted anything, other than one live link, because I wasn't 100% sure if you are spamming or not.

So,sorry for any misinterpretation and please understand that it's not a personal dig at you. [grin]

I've reinstated the link I removed and explained why,in the topic on The Goddess Tree. [thumbup]

Okay, I'll be more careful in how I post and etc. Guess I should have given myself more time/familiarity with the board, before "jumping in" with recommendations. I've got a lot of material I'm reading or using, and like to share what I've found helpful and worthwhile.

But I definitely don't want to be mistaken or misunderstood. [confused]

Will re-read guidelines and etc.

Having read the Books first chapter I see that

"the Witch Hunts were grounded in Reality, there really were witches that were being hunted ? The error was in the accuracy of those hunting, as to whether they had actually apprehended a real witch or not. This book has plot lines wherein the Hunters have captured/incarcerated an actual Coven member, but their methods of detection were haphazard and they only coincidentally came upon a real witch from time to time? So the Salem Witch trials may have been in pursuit of real witches but in fact were fomented and driven by adolescent hysteria, and an admixture of Voodun and/or Santeria. All in all, it is refreshing to find out that these old church men from England were not chasing shibboleths entirely, as far as real witches think."

When I was young I didn't think there was either any efficacy in a witches ritual/worship/prayer/service etc. Nor any real witches. Now I see that there are those who believe that they are real witches, and have convictions upon which they resolve to do and act upon. Again I feel that the Old Witch Hunter/Finders have been somewhat somehow vindicated. That is to say " They were not altogether out of their minds. " [geek]
