Hey guys!
I'm going for a one-day course on Reiki level 1 in mid-January. It's from 9am to 6pm, and I was wondering what I could expect? I'll admit it, Reiki is not an area I've EVER read about, but it was a free course so I signed up.
Thanks!

Re: Reiki Level 1
Lucky you! I've seen classes go for up to 300 dollars [cry] I'm pretty sure they teach you the basic energy work at the first level and give you a healing experience.

Well, a free course. How long does it go?
I wouldn´t expect too much. Some basic stuff about energy current, some self advertisement and I am quite certain they will try to sell some sort of book or continuing seminar. Try to filter the practical information out for yourself, but I wouldn´t expect to much except some basic stuff you will also find in every basic literature about energy work.
Anyway, have fun [thumbup]

bye bye

Ramscha summed it up.
I don't know a lot about Reiki, so maybe there's something I'm missing, but on a mechanistic level, I don't understand how any system of energetic healing can work that doesn't involve first training the healer in the long term accumulation and direction of vital force. As I've met several a couple people who claim to be reiki practitioners but don't have any kind of regular practice along those lines, I tend towards skepticism of the system, but if it's free then there's no harm in rocking up and checking it out. Just don't take everything they say at face value I guess.

Re: Reiki Level 1
I went to a group attunement many years ago so I can tell you about my experience from what I can remember, though it may not be what will happen to you.
The usual meet and greet at the start with everyone in one room, talk about what people may or may not know about Reiki, you get a run down of the history and how it works.
Get taken to a separate room with the guide to do the attunement.
After everyone is done there was a hands on practice session by anyone who wants to volunteer to either give or receive.
I dont remember if a pamphlet or anything was given out for further reading but there are a lot of websites and books about it available.
