Help with deeper meditation

Hey everybody! I'm new around here!
Lately while meditating, around 30 minutes or so into the process I start to feel hyper aware of my senses and the barrier between the senses' regular limitation and the ability to consciously perceive ineffable substance is translucified, but midway through the experience I feel as though I am being physically pulled out of this plane and taken somewhere else and notice a big increase in heart and breathing rate because of this. The feeling is not explainable but it is similar to the "rushing" one may experience in a DMT experience. I am GREATLY aspiring to further my spirituality and follow this wonderful new intercosmic tunnel but I am afraid of the intensity and physical effects the experience brings. Am I simply not ready for the experience, or perhaps is my fear inhibiting my ability to push through?

If you feel you are not ready for the physical circumstances (heartbeat, Breathing) you have two options or maybe 3:

- Start to practice pranayama, or to specify: Play with your breath techniques and get a feeling for the changes
- Do more sport and try to nearly overexerciese yourself, you will see that the effect will be very similar (be careful, overexercising yourself too much over a long time can be unhealthy, just try to get as exhausted by training as possible)
- Combine both

At least for the physical conditions that should make you ready. And for this diving experience, I guess unless you try it again you won´t know if you are ready or not, but training for mental strength is never bad, as a help I would recommend Franz Bardons Initiation into hermetics.

Everyone should practice pranayama - you can practice breathing techniques anywhere, at any time, and their application does wonders for your own self-control. Also, don't approach this whole thing as something scary that might carry you away - just go with it and see where it takes you - you might end up somewhere nobody has ever been before. [grin]

Yes, breathe.

Try to remain dispassionate and continue to view this from a distance. Take note of it but don't hold on to it. Don't let this become your focus.

There's so much more on the other side of it.

Hi,

There is no quick fix for this, but long-term solutions are available. Based on what you have described I'd like to refer you to three books that I believe deal specifically with what you are describing. The books are:

Wendy Palmer. "The Intuitive Body: Aikido as a Clarisentient Practice" North Atlantic Books, Berkley. 1994. isbn: 1-55643-171-6

Katsuki Sekida. "Zen Training:Methods & Philosophy" Weatherhill, N.Y. 1975. isbn: 0-8348-0114-0

Lu K'uan Yu. "Taoist Yoga: Alchemy & Immortality" Weisner, N.Y. 1973. isbn: 0-87728-067-3

You may be able to find these cheaply on Amazon or some such venue. Take your time with them. Let the authors imbibe you with wisdom and understanding and you will be just fine. Try to remember that life is a long road for many. It's often the journey that is more gratifying than the goal. I wish you joy and growth.
