I.O.B What element is anxiety?
I'm re-reading 'Modern Magick' and it mentions the I.O.B Ritual. identify, objectify and banish.
Basic idea, take a character trait, visualize it as a creature/entity then banish it.
He talks about using the right tool for the job.
"The appropriate tool represents the opposite qualities of what you wish to get rid of. Water is always changing so the chalice is a good weapon against unwillingness to change. The solidity of earth as represented by the pentacle, is a good weapon against constantly changing once mind." p122
So... what element does anxiety represents or what element/weapon would you use to banish it?

Traditionally a dagger or a sword if I am not mistakenSo... what element does anxiety represents or what element/weapon would you use to banish it?

bye bye
Re: I.O.B What element is anxiety?
In my opinion anxiety is associated with the Element of Air. When I had a stressful job site recently one of the ways I dealt with it (and it did help) was to use Elemental Breathing to draw in Earth energy (which is the opposite of Air) to balance it out and be more solid.
I had forgotten about the ritual you mentioned and I am going to work with that.

That makes sense. I've been drawn to a hematite rock lately and it is suppose to ground you as well.Asurendra wrote:In my opinion anxiety is associated with the Element of Air. Re: I.O.B What element is anxiety?
I've heard good things about that stone. Perhaps a combination of using the physical stone, Elemental Earth breathing and the ritual you outlined will help. I also suggest taking Gaba, 5-HTP & St. John's Wort.

Re: I.O.B What element is anxiety?
As an alternative you could consider attacking it from all four elemental directions by breaking down the aspects of your anxiety into 'sub elements'.
Example: Use the Aid Dagger to banish disharmonious thoughts (conscious or otherwise) connected to your anxiety, use the Fire Wand to banish the lower emotional aspects (anger, frustration, ect.) of your anxiety, Use the Water Chalice to banish any spiritual factors contributing to it, and use the Earth Pentacle to banish earthly or material troubles that may be connected to it.
These are loose elemental attributions so feel free to make your own analysis for correspondances.
Though I don't use D.M. Kraig's method exactly, I use a similar method with the LBRP, I have found it very effective to break a problem down into its 'sub-elements' and banish them all to ensure that nothing of it is left. You could easily do this with only a small adjustment to Kraig's IOB method.

I Kinda like that mentality, It's like going all out war on the problem. No mercy! [devil]Mysticwizard452 wrote:As an alternative you could consider attacking it from all four elemental directions by breaking down the aspects of your anxiety into 'sub elements'.

Re: I.O.B What element is anxiety?
But you don't need a grenade launcher when a simple fly swatter will do. Overkill, sometimes, is just plain overkill and doesn't fix the problem. It's just so much bigger than the problem that the problem seems to be swept away in the glorious explosions around it. Except, problems can be tricky little bastards and burrow down beneath the great big boom. That's when they bite you on the ass.
When my wings get tired I grab my broom.

You don't need it, but it does sound satisfactory.RoseRed wrote:But you don't need a grenade launcher when a simple fly swatter will do.

Re: I.O.B What element is anxiety?
I wouldn't really equate it to an all-out-war method. Its simply an answer to uncertainty. Suppose you banish it using the air dagger but the source is rooted in your lower emotional aspects (fire). You mite wind up getting diminished results if any. This method simply ensures that you don't miss what you're aiming at.Desecrated wrote:You don't need it, but it does sound satisfactory.RoseRed wrote:But you don't need a grenade launcher when a simple fly swatter will do.

But one grenade launcher doesn't make a war. It just makes a big boom.

Depends.RoseRed wrote:But one grenade launcher doesn't make a war. It just makes a big boom.
Me shooting one grenade launcher everyday at a large country as America, might not be a war.
But with a grenade launcher I can attack a country like the Vatican whom only have 110 soldiers. If I kill one soldier everyday I can conquerer the country in less then 6 months.
