new to magik

Hey everyone!

I'm sure you've seen plenty of me come through here; no particular experience but hundreds of questions. I'll try not to ask them all at once lol.

A little history, I started meditating several months ago and working on feeling my chakras. I was surprised how well I could feel them and have become more in tune with energy. Being able to understand and experience energy got me curious which in turn led me down a rabbit hole which got me learning about magik. It demystified it for me. Understanding how magik is principally energy manipulation but also seeing the power of energy is how I became drawn to magik.

I've been reading about this for a month or so. I've performed two ritual/spells/??? thus far. One sex magik and one visualization. They "worked" in that I saw results, but neither fully to fruition and not quite how I expected. Seeing the results showed me that A) it works and B) a humbling epiphany of how novice I am. Anything powerful is good to have respect for so I'm glad I got this lesson early on.

I'm drawn to chaos magik. I don't mean this disrespectfully but when I read about some other magik I'm just not into the pomp and circumstance involved. Chanting, daggers, proverbial "eye of newt". I like the chaos magik for the ability to be more bare bones and simply "manipulate energy".

Well, sorry for the long intro. I've joined another forum but I don't feel it's the right place for me. I really like the atmosphere of this site so decided to join. Been researching the posts here for a couple weeks and figured I'd go ahead and make it official. I still have so much time learn so I'll likely be a quiet bystander gleaning what I can for the time being.

It sounds like you've made a splendid start in your relationship with the occult. I'm happy to be the first to welcome you to the forum. I would encourage you to keep an open mind with respect to different occult styles. There is much they have to contribute to your personal journey if you develop the wisdom to learn. Good luck! @manonthepath while I am drawn to chaos as a practice and I believe it can meet my needs, I'll certainly take your advice and keep an open mind. We don't always know where we'll end up.

I too have been drawn to magic because of energy manipulation. As manonthepath said, keep an open mind... for many reasons. Much of magic that looks dissimilar is actually connected at the core, it is just dressed up differently. You'll learn alot by sifting thru the details and finding commonality.
I too was put off (and still am to a lesser degree) by ceremony. But once you understand that the ritual is mainly there to focus visualization, its purpose is better understood. To what extent and the flavor depends on the individual. Chaos magick sounds like the right fit for you.

Welcome to you too littlegoat. I saw your intro and agree with you on the maturity of the forum.

@manodsands that's one of the things I had found doing research was the point of the ritual to focus. I appreciate the advice and perhaps ceremony might be something I need to work in at some point. Right now I'm wary to go beyond basic sigil magik because I feel I truly understand and can grasp the theory behind it.

I fired my first sigils yesterday fwiw. I may have done in haste. I've been wanting to go at this slowly but had gumption as still feel I needed to start somewhere.
