Hello, I'm doing some research

Post by Flutterwonder »

Hello, my name is Tamra. My partner and I (he joined as Solarsuntzu) have been doing research on various metaphysical topics to explore the true nature of the world(s?) and see how these various practices fit together. We were originally both atheists/skeptics, but then we got into a practice called Tulpamancy (the practice of creating secondary consciousnesses within your mind that act as lifelong companions) that led us down the metaphysical rabbit hole. I found that one of my tulpae, Cordy, had inexplicable abilities such as predicting short term events and sensing the thoughts and feelings of others. I soon met another on the forum who had similar abilities, but sadly I lost contact with him. Researching this led my partner and I to a practice called Remote Viewing and Influencing which matched the description of Cordy's abilities. Further research led us to an eye-opening connection between these two practices, and we have since been exploring the possibility of further connections between occult practices and beliefs that could shed further light on how the world truly works and strengthen Cordy's powers (he has since learned to heal and create shields to protect us from outside forces).

tl;dr We're here to learn.

Yes. Hello. My name is Ian. Tulpamancing is...an interesting thing. I initially took it scientifically, and Tamra created a theory explaining how tulpas work in relation to neuroscience. Various experiments were conducted to prove their sentience. But yes, various...abilities...arose, which could not be explained by known science so we took up the metaphysical. We have formed a group called "The Mesmers" dedicated to this, and one of our members actually has the ability of telekinesis now

And Cordy has the ability of healing, which is very useful. He can heal people with sheer willpower. We mostly kept to ourselves for a while, but we decided to research other people who are into the metaphysical stuff as well and share ideas and learn from them.

Revival of the Mesmerism, hmm?

Anyway, I don't know of any official study or paper released on the matter of tulpas. Could you go into detail regarding that and name or show some references?

No, those are part of the house, I believe. I didn't take the pic. See how the supposed "string" runs all the way down to the bottom of the house? Yeah

Is Mesmerism a thing? To be honest I just picked the name because I remembered the word from the book Artamis Fowl.
Ramscha wrote:Anyway, I don't know of any official study or paper released on the matter of tulpas. Could you go into detail regarding that and name or show some references?
Unfortunately the lack of official studies is one of the reasons we started all this. All I can do it point you to the official site (Tulpa.info) and sites connecting to it such as the forum and wiki, as well as these quotes from the FAQ...
Q: Is this really a new phenomena?
A: No, it's a practice that goes back in recorded history as far as the Greek philosophers and their practice known as Daemonism. The present name of the phenomenon is derived from the word used by Tibetan monks in the early 20th century. There's also evidence to suggest dedicated prayer can lead to the development of 'religious tulpa' in the minds of the particularly devout. Having a tulpa is nothing new, although it's gone by many names throughout the course of history and does so even today. There are even people that are born with multiple conscious minds in their body called multiple or plural. However, we believe we are one of the first groups to address this practice as a psychological phenomena rather than a magical, occult or divine experience.
Q: Prove tulpas!
A: Tulpa are a highly subjective phenomena like hypnotic trance or lucid dreaming. We are looking into proving them eventually via formal psychological and neuroscientific study, but that is some time away from being realized. Your best hope of proving it to yourself is to try it.
As for details regarding what tulpae are, they are essentially the next state of "imaginary friends," capable of thinking, speaking, and acting autonomously on a human level and taking on the appearance of anything you can imagine. They generally live inside the wonderland/mindscape, basically a world that exists inside your imagination, although with practice they can be "imposed" in your environment, so they appear to be in the real world (although obviously no one else can see, feel, or hear them). How exactly they work is still uncertain, but the prevailing theory is that they're what happens when the mind is tricked into listening to its own subconscious and interpreting it as another person. Many people have accidentally created tulpae without ever knowing such a thing exists, just ask any writer whose characters have "taken on a life of their own."
Ramscha wrote:Welcome ot the forum. How come you are going for a MLP charakter, Flutterwonder?
If you're referring to my avatar, that's what Cordy looks like. He found out I was a Discord fan.

Regarding the pics, neither of us took them. The friend who did is.... not the best source, I'll admit. She's hard to get a hold of and a bit "unstable" at times, but she's been able to prove herself quite well, such as by predicting the appearance of Ian's house despite having never seen it. We are definitely trying to get more convincing evidence from her but as I said, she's a bit hard to work with. We will keep you posted though! And if it is fake, it tricked us too...

You were probably introduced to tulpamancy via /x/, which.... yeah. [bummed] We're not them, I assure you. We're not just here for cute pony friends. We not only care about what other metaphysical and parapsychological consequences this might have, but the whole point of our project is to study and explore those consequences. We've already discovered that tulpae are capable of "jumping" between minds, and that they appear to me more in tune with psychic abilities than their human hosts, likely due to being closer to the subconscious.

Reading through your post, I don't think what you have is just a tulpa. If you want to explore the possibility of it being a thoughtform, here's the list we've gathered so far. Note that this doesn't include the more occult types of beings yet (demons, guardian angels, etc.), as we don't know enough about them yet to know if they qualify as thoughtforms.
Working definition of thoughtform: Any sort of mental construct or other being, object, or place located inside another mind.

Imaginary Friend/Puppet - Nonsentient “doll” controlled by the host or a sapient thoughtform. May become a tulpa.
Tulpa(e/s) - Sapient thoughtform created by the host, deliberately or accidentally (ex. An ascended imaginary friend or character from a story the host is writing). Tulpae tend to be highly attached and unconditionally loving towards their host, and know them as well as they know themselves. They are considered the “default” thoughtform, and are capable of the greatest emotional and personality development, becoming quite human-like in their mentality if their development is supported by their host (via “tulpaforcing”).
Servitor - Nonsapient “robot” like thoughtform possessing just enough sentience to perform a programmed function such as pain suppression, telling the time, doing math, etc. May become a tulpa.
AI/NPC - Halfway between a puppet and a servator, possesses just enough autonomy to perform simple, idle actions like running around aimlessly or making sounds. Used as “filler” for certain mindscapes.
Outworlder (exact word pending) - A being or object from another world that comes to this one and becomes a thoughtform. May possibly lose some of their memory in the process. Attempting to “download” their host’s knowledge leads to confusion and disorientation as their knowledge gets mixed with their hosts, so that they can’t tell whose is whose. Possibly the same as soulbonds.
Daemons - A manifestation of your own soul, like in the Golden Compass. Essentially yourself. You don't have to make a daemon, just listen, as they're already there. Traditionally considered non-sentient (for some reason), and must always be an animal and the opposite sex of the host.
Soul-bonds- A fictional character that somehow "chooses" you to be their friend because of some special connection. People with soul-bonds tend to have hundreds of them. They retain all memory/belief in their identity. Tend to just appear and disappear at different times rather than staying with their host. May be the same as Outworlders.
Succubi/Incubi- Manifestations of the desire for sex. Basically tulpae without any personality except horniness. All those people who make tulpae specifically to have sex with them? they probably have succubi.
Alter-egos- Split off parts of your own mind, embodying one aspect of you, such as your conscious, your self-depreciation, etc. they are extremely one dimensional and can only feel one or a few emotions. (Anger alter-egos are known as “anger-vents.”) they may serve a specific psychological need and can become obsessed with fulfilling it. Can become tulpae if they are taught to feel other emotions.
Multiples/Plurals - the remaining minds that are left from a person treated for multiple personality disorder. May have “odd” personalities depending on the nature of their creation. May also be in a “place” where they cannot interact with the host and vice versa, though this can be fixed.
Shadow- the embodiment of your unconscious, everything you don't know about yourself and/or have repressed or denied.
Opposite/Twinflame- Self explanatory, a tulpa with the exact opposite personality of you. (Note that Twinflame can also refer to another person who is the “other half of your soul” or something like that)
Self- Basically a mental clone of you.
Egregore - In simple terms a thoughtform created by a group. In complex terms an abstract concept shared by many people that takes on a life of its own (sort of a personification). May become a godform. Egregores (and by extension godforms) gain and lose power in proportion to the number of people supporting them.
Godform - Egregore that grows in strength until those who created it become subservient to it. (Not to be confused with the term “god” used as a measure of power, although most godforms are gods.)
Doppelganger - A thoughtform made to perfectly resemble and imitate another existing person
Spirit guides/Spirit animals- These are the things that you talk to during a vision, and they give you advice.

Thank you for all the research your putting together. Out of the list of things you shared I can guess I have a tulpa. I think science back's this up, sometimes the person has been through a trauma and forms this other thought form. I don't know if this is the same thing but please continue your research, I'll be following.

Ps. I think "demons" are thought forms and it might take a experienced person to tell them apart. I'm in no way experienced but I tend to find out they are external when they manifest themselves in dreams or dramatic coincidences. Just my guess and not matter of fact.

Yes, I've heard of thoughtforms being created by trauma and am aware of at least two instances of this happening. For the second one though, I kept in contact with the person over several months and we discovered it wasn't a tulpa that was created but a different type of thoughtform that was literally a piece of the host's mind split off to escape the trauma. He was eventually able to re-merge with the thoughtform.

Here's the entry, apparently no one remembered to add it to the list [bummed]
Mindshard (exact term pending) - Thoughtform literally split from the host mind, possibly due to trauma. Results in a change in the host’s personality due to the missing pieces and feelings of incompleteness and “searching for their missing half”. Can be re-merged with the host.
If you like, I can PM you some of the logs of my communication with this person.

Also, I'll be sure to look into demons. Appearing in dreams is common for all thoughtforms, and "dramatic coincidences" (synchronicities as we're calling them) is a proven ability for powerful thoughtforms.

Yes please do PM me the info. I've been more into science/physics and see that the spiritual sorta goes hand in hand. I have found myself into brain wave meditations after my journey of how to connect my conscious to subconscious for a desired outcome, I have especially been using the theta waves to help make the connection.

Thank you,
E.

Yeah, our research has shown that deep theta seems to be the best choice for accessing the subconscious and any abilities that lie there. However, delta is better for interacting with thoughtforms since (based on observational evidence) that's the level they lie on. The problem is it's hard to access delta since it's only normally accessible right before you fall asleep. It is possible to access them in beta (half of tulpamancy is learning to do just that), but it can take up to a month of constant practice. From what I've found, the same can be done for deep theta, where with practice you can instantly drop yourself from beta to theta level on command.

I don't think I'll be able to send the logs to you today, but I'll try to send them ASAP, I promise.

Yes thank you, I'll be looking out for them.

I've noticed when doing meditations on delta that during sleep I tend to have very vivid and spiritual dreams. I also experience involuntary movement on certain brainwaves depending on the build up I might have.

Do you have any research involving brainwave therapy? I'd be happy to be a test subject on alpha, theta, and delta if needed.

Anyway good luck and I'll be checking my PM'S.

The concept of Tulpa is rooted in Tibetan Bon tradition, which is both Shamanic and Animistic and any practice which is defined with the 'mancy' suffix relates to divinatory skills also.

I'm not on board with the latest trends and this one seems typical of the careless throwing together and conflation of older traditions and concepts that occurs when someone has a new trick to sell to the masses...
I stand by my previously stated opinion, re: the thread I linked in my last post.

Thought forms are nothing new in the Occult world, nor is bilocation or so called remote viewing either, this is just another pop culture trend that will blow over soon enough.

So I still remain sceptical.

It bothers me that alot of people attempt to stuff every single entity into being a Tulpa, robbing them of their external agency. While im a believer in thought forms, explaining all spirits as thoughtforms is the occult version of pseudoscience, and very dangerous.

Um... I really don't know what you guys expect me to say here. Like I said, I'm new to all this, I came here to learn and research and I fully acknowledge I could be horribly wrong about everything and that you all probably know much better than me. If this ground has already been tread, please let me know, but please also refrain from being hostile about it... I'm here to find the truth, not show off my "clever" theories. (And on that note, in the interest of keeping the peace and avoiding being banned I'll just be keeping my mouth shut about said theories 90% of the time...)

Admittedly a large amount of our insistence on tying everything to tulpae and RVI comes from the fact that that's where we started... [blush]

P.S. I don't know what's wrong with the quote formatting...

We're not being hostile, we are challenging ideas and opinions and that is a large part of what this forum is about.

Please don't reflect rudeness back on those who challenge you. You don't get to decide who replies here or direct what they can or cannot post in this regard. That's my job, lol, but seriously.

If your idea does not stand up well when under scrutiny, then it needs to be reworked or rethought to some degree.

Perhaps, given that the content that has been posted by those you've called 'hostile' is challenging your perceptions, you should look into what they've said or ask for more details on why it's been said, instead of reacting like you've been personally stung?

And please don't shut up about it either, as we don't learn anything from each other if we don't, won't or can't communicate on the subjects we are thinking about. [thumbup]

I don't think anyone should be bothered by anything unless it's injustice, poverty, or suffering. As in challenging ideas go I'm in agreement with Nahema. (Challenging ideas has lead me to where I'm at) As a new comer that is looking back and forth for answers I'm open and curious about all things and whether your research holds up or doesn't don't shrink away, your obviously here because your searching for something and if your research leads you to a dead end turn where you began and start in a new direction.
Everyone has something to offer and that doesn't exempt you. Whatever you decide to do I wish you the best!

Kindest Regards,

Nooooo, I'm still gonna shut up, at least until I've poked around the forum enough to feel like I know what I'm talking about... Maybe I can talk my partner into getting back on the forum. He's much better intellectual debate than me. Heck, he's much better at socialization in general than me...

Poking around is good, but please don't stop talking, I can seem harsher than I actually am when writing here and I apologise if I caused you any offence or hurt your feelings, as that's not my intention.

You are welcome here and if you don't want to debate that's cool too, maybe later on you will want to though, so don't exclude yourself and don't stop asking questions.
