Greetings For the last few years I have been studying Ascended Master teachings, the 7 rays, angels, Reiki and so on. A strong part of my practice is using the spoken word through dynamic decrees and affirmations. I also practice Kundalini Yoga, and work with sacred medicine in ceremony. I have been more and more interested in ceremonial magic as I already work with magic in many ways. As many of you know Im sure, research into the subject of ceremonial magic can seem overwhelming. What I am looking for is a workable system that leans more towards the Judeo-Christian side of the equation. While I feel I have a firm grasp on the concepts of white/black magic and good/evil, I just don't resonate with the idea of working with and binding demons and the like. I also just really resonate with Christian archetypes and imagery more and more as my own personal journey is being illuminated. Anyway, for any assistance on the subject, I Am most grateful.

i cannot recommend you a magic system to work with, but when i'm reading your post i get the urge to recommend you the chassidian kabbalist writer friedrich weinreb. he did a fantastic job explaining deep old jewish tradition and actually moved towards and into the new testament as well (quite a few orthodox jews didn't like him for this).
his explanations of the christian symbols out of the jewish kabbalist roots are, to me at least, extremely inspiring and mind-opening.
it's a mystic path he shows, not a magical one, but it might suit you anyway, as the borders between the two are quite flexible, as far as i can see...

don't know if weinreb is been translated into english yet, originally he wrote in dutch and german.

I would recommend you begin with something that is easy to comprehend, has widely available information, and is considered white magick: Angel magick.

Silver Ravenwolf has a new book out on Angel Magick that I haven't read yet so I can't speak highly of it, however, I think it may fit the bill of what you are looking for: Ritual magick combined with angels, no demons whatsoever. I would also recommend Doreen Virtue's books on working with angels ("Angel Medicine", "Angels 101", "Angel Therapy", etc), as well as Hazel Raven's "The Angel Bible". All these systems are very simple and purely light/white magick.

With these resources combined, you should learn the basics of angel magick (not Enochian magick, but angel magick).

If you're looking at Judao-Christian mysteries Golden Dawn is pretty good for that as is Martinism. I'm in BOTA and enjoying that a lot, one of the things Paul Foster Case is always doing in Tarot Fundamentals is pulling in bible exegesis.

I believe it is very important to work within an order which has VALID 3rd order contacts if one believes or knows that MAGIA will further his spiritual progression. When one reads about the problems in various groups, such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and others, one must make decisions regarding MAGIA with great clarity and discrimination. MAGIA can be quite dangerous, causing possible insanity and even death, at times. Most individuals do NOT have the ability to practise real MAGIA, but those who dabble with it, unprepared, may cause some serious and dangerous problems for themselves.

At this point, after many years of study and research into the now famous Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, I see how fractured it had rapidly become, how un-Adept many in the inner Order had behaved, how disturbed many HOGD groups act today towards each other. Dr Paul Foster Case, an inner Order Adept in the HOGD also noticed the problems and, after separating from the HOGD and forming BOTA based on 3rd Order contacts, he wrote about the problems and the aspects of HOGD teachings he felt contributed to the various imbalances and problems.

As for "binding demons, etc...", at one point, the Adept MUST confront spiritual evil, by whatever name, and conquer it, subject it to his or her will. This refers to both INNER and OUTER so-called DEMONS.

The Order known as Builders Of The Adytum, or BOTA, founded by Dr Case, later became known as the FLO or Fraternitas LVX Occulta, or Fraternity of the Hidden Light, International. It instructs the aspirant upon the Initiated Path of the Western Esoteric Tradition, and includes true Alchemy, Hermetic Cabala, Astrology, Tarot, and MAGIA in it's graduated series of teachings. While a member here advised contacting a Jewish kabbalist regarding the Esoteric Tradition, few Jews will advise, and fewer still instruct any gentile in the Practical or Magical side of kabbalah, and you would normally be required to convert to Judaism after studying, living and practicing Judaism, after completely renouncing JESUS, in a formal Jewish community for at least a year and a half, before even being taught anything about Talmud, remes ( hints ), and certainly not sod, or secret teachings until you'd spent many years studying and practicing halachic (commandment based) TORAH, including kashrut, dressing very properly, behaving very strictly according to Orthodox Jewish practises and principles, not EVER touching or looking at other females that are not your wife (she too would have to convert fully), and never be alone with another female ( except your wife) down to the age of 3 years old. Just a few aspects of Jewish law.

The HOGD and it's derivatives were based upon Judao-Christian concepts, and the requirements are very different.
