New here, hoping to get some guidance
New here, hoping to get some guidance
Hello.
This is my first week of the occult studies.
It's a bit odd to find myself in this place, all my childhood I was lead to think in a very materialistic way, for years I refused the possibility of God and all of the esoteric disciplines, and know I'm making an serious effort to study Magic. Life sure is strange.
After reading superficially about many topics of mysticism and esoterism (like the Kabbalah, Aleister Crowley, John Dee and Rosicrucianism) I came across with the Chaos Magic meta-paradigm, and i found in that system of tought some resonance with my own personal believes. I'm having Liber Null as the starting point of my studies, what do you think?
I hope I can learn a lot with you guys.

Illusion is the first of the pleasures.
The bomb of entropic chaos.
If some assholes levels a twelve gauge your way, you drain him, skin him and bash in his skull. Self-preservation is vital part of humanity after all. My favorite part, in fact
My mind is telling me NOOO but my BODY, MY BODY is telling me YEAS

That's a fairly common situation, given how much Western society is dominated by the opposites of either the Abrahamic religions or the increasing rise of materialistic reductionism/atheism. Trust me, I've had enough experience that on a logical level, I no longer doubt for a moment the existence of the spiritual and metaphysical, but I still have moments where I have to pinch myself because that atheistic indoctrination was so deeply ingrained in my education. It's something you'll work through with time though.frackture wrote: It's a bit odd to find myself in this place, all my childhood I was lead to think in a very materialistic way, for years I refused the possibility of God and all of the esoteric disciplines, and know I'm making an serious effort to study Magic. Anyway, welcome

Chaos magic can be a very good place to start. Good luck in your research and also, one of the things I'm noticing with myself that I feel may be useful to another person starting - your information accrual will likely come first but you may get very mixed messages as to how fast you're supposed to progress; most of us have layers upon layers of muck in our subconscious that needs to be cleaned out. In other words the results are very much worth the patience - the only person you're in a race with, if it even needs to be a race at all, is yourself and your own progress. If you find yourself moving faster, slower, even encumbered by things that you didn't realize were going to barriers; keep up the good work and remember that any time you find more obstacles that's just more birds you're taking out with one stone along your magical path.
Heh, I get that quite often as well and end up fighting the other way - trying to make myself take note when things do happen so whatever other part of my mind that dismisses them later is less likely to have a foothold. Seems even without necessarily being stuck in agnosticism this stuff can be difficult due to the sheer rigidity of the physical plane and you start to wonder, by all the cosmic laws and rules, what the universe actually will allow, what it won't, and whether it'll defend you if you take a leap onto the right path at the risk of income, respect from friends and family, it can be quite the leap into the unknown. When life seems to have you chained to a stake out in the wild where you'd assume the predators will come along eventually and the question seems to be "Do you trust me?" - the challenges of authentically living orthodox Christianity equally apply to authentically living mysticism and magic.Rin wrote:I no longer doubt for a moment the existence of the spiritual and metaphysical, but I still have moments where I have to pinch myself because that atheistic indoctrination was so deeply ingrained in my education. You don't have to do a thing perfect, just relentlessly.

After a long time of forced absence, I finally return here.
Didn't had a chance to say goodbye, but here's my new hello!
