7 Inches Increase in Height
7 Inches Increase in Height
Let me get right to the point. I would like to increase my height by 7 inches, in a way that is healthy and balanced (wingspan, torso length, legs, etc). Help?
P.S.: Spare me any "magick doesn't work like that", "use magick for something else like accepting your body" and "can't be done" replies. If that is your belief, just don't waste your time.

How rude. I offered a genuine, simple way to increase your height by exactly seven inches.
You specifically said you didn't want to hear the truth. Since I couldn't say, as someone who has both observed and experienced body manipulation magick, that you will never achieve what you are asking for metaphysically, I instead offered you the simplest physical solution. Shoes.
And yet you call me a troll. Rude! So very rude.

Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
If I ask a regular doctor if there is any way to grow taller, nearly all of them will shrugg and say no. Despite the fact that there is a medical procedure that can lengthen one's long bones. So just because you don't know how to do something, don't assume it can't be done and waste your time making fun of people seeking a way to do it.
Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
Changing eye color, hair color, skin tone, amount of body hair, minor things like ring size and such that essentially amounts to an adjustment in swelling or muscle tone, and lots of similar things can be done as short term changes. There was a guy who experimented with sex change manipulations, and managed to increase bust size, have softer skin, better hair, and a lot of similar things simply by meditating several hours a day. For several months. Then he stopped meditating on it and his body bounced back to its default settings.laican wrote:How can you at the same time have observed and experienced such a thing, yet not believe it is possible?Shinichi wrote:as someone who has both observed and experienced body manipulation magick
So:
1) You're not going to make yourself grow seven inches, unless you just haven't hit puberty yet. In that case, just wait and let nature run its course. Short of inducing illusions and making people see you as such, changes that big aren't within the skill set even of any of the Adepts I have encountered. Because it's a wasteful endeavor that has no purpose beyond your own vanity, and even in the pursuit of vanity, there are better things to do.
2) No such change is permanent. Your body has its own built in blueprint (that, ya know, fancy DNA stuff), and magick does not allow you to alter that core blueprint so easily. So any changes you make, unless it is in the form of permanent damage, your body is simply going to do its best to heal. Just like if you take out an ear ring, your ear will try to close it up and heal the damage.
This is the truth of physical body manipulations. Nobody is making fun of you, and I'm not making any assumptions. I may well be wasting my time, should you choose to revel in delusions despite the counsel of your seniors, but you should at least know what has already been done (as well as attempted, and failed to do) with this sort of magick before you run off offending people who are suggesting that there are better ways to use your efforts. That bone surgery, perhaps, may be a much easier thing to pursue than a magick solution.

Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
The day I accept that there is some magic blueprint that has set the height of my body in stone for all my life, is the day I commit suicide. There is no better use of my time.
Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
It's not technically a strictly magical blueprint. It's called DNA. You know, genetics. Those tiny bits of things you get from your parents and ancestors. Perhaps you should do homework on such things. Perhaps you should do a lot of things instead of fixate on your height as being the most important thing in your life.
Trust me, height ain't that big a deal. I can take on guys a lot taller than me and win, and I've been thrown around by girls a lot shorter than me too. If you worry too much about what you don't have, you fail in learning how to use what you do have to your advantage. There is wisdom in this that you should ponder carefully, lest you make yourself sound like a bigger fool than you seem to be.

Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
There is nothing in DNA that determines a person's height. You cannot tell a person's height from DNA. You can tell their gender. DNA simply has a set of codes which, under certain conditions, results in certain features. It is one element in a chaotic system, which is dynamic in that in addition to interacting with the environment directly, changes its expression due to environmental pressures. A vivid example of this is one guy that was born a dwarf but then, through a brain tumor, ended up turning into a giant. I do not care what you have to say about the value of height, or your judgement over how much I value it.Shinichi wrote:It's not technically a strictly magical blueprint. It's called DNA.

@laican
You will have really bad time then. Shin treated you with culture, yep, he joked a little but I am sure you wont find any better answer. Others will laugh more or will try to explain things through your thick skull and then abandon their quest as soon as they see you are stucked in your vision. [tongue]
If you know how magick AND science works, why do you even ask? You know better, right? [cool]
Have a good day, there is no need of building tension [grin]

Illusion is the first of the pleasures.
The bomb of entropic chaos.
If some assholes levels a twelve gauge your way, you drain him, skin him and bash in his skull. Self-preservation is vital part of humanity after all. My favorite part, in fact

I suggest you to study chaos magic.laican wrote:Let me get right to the point. I would like to increase my height by 7 inches, in a way that is healthy and balanced (wingspan, torso length, legs, etc). Help?
Specific (and many would say: "impossible") goals can be really hard to accomplish, thus you'd probably ned to experiment... a lot.
As you can see nobody will (or simply can) just give you an instant solution or easy short-cut - you have to find your own method and tools.
Try different magical paths and techniques - rituals, sigils, even evocation (the chaos magic version).
It's going to take some time, though.
Magic needs research.
Give it a try.

[Although accepting your body might be useful.
I know it sounds paradoxically, but still: self-doubt and self-hate can undermine life and magical practice, too.
It's ok if you want to change (magic is about change, after all), but you need a basis; a place to start.
And like it or not, you are you, here and now.
Start with that, without the fear that you will end up with the same stuff.]

What I'm looking is some guidance on how to reach the kind of intensity necessary for such a work to have a chance of success. I've done a number of things and currently, I'm working on a sort of servitor. Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
Nothing happens, even in magick, outside the will of the universe.
In my experience vanity is very rarely something the universe will support or promote for an extended period of time.
However, if you find yourself in a place that requires you to be 7 inches taller, the universe will make sure you fit the bill. If you don't, it will probably just write you off.

Gentlemen, how about we just stop these fights, start to respect the others and their opinions?
We are all here to learn, to grow and to share are experiences.
Let's do this as peacefully as we can!
There are many traditions, many views on / of magic, so we should get used to the fact that there are no single "Truth".
We got a whole part of the forum dedicated just for the different paradigms, right?
If the dude wants to grow taller, then everybody can tell his / her opinion about the topic - that's all we can do.

For my part - the closest thing I've heard of is the attainment of the Body of Light/Rainbow Body, at which point the individual could re-condense their physical form into any that they choose, as far as I understand the theory. But that kind of attainment is the work of lifetimes, and by the time you managed it you wouldn't care about anything as trivial as bodily features. So realistically, you're out of luck. Sorry.

Re: 7 Inches Increase in Height
Why being short is such a bad thing for you?
First I think you should find an honest answer to this question. You don't have to share it.
People come in many shapes and there is nothing wrong with being away from the statistical mean. I understand that you are self-conscious of a physical feature and that sucks.
But instead of trying to change you in a drastic physical way. You should focus on understanding your frustration with being short and work with that to make it a non-problem. If you see no limitations in being short, there are no limitations in being so. If you feel handicaped by that people will perceive you as such.
Just out of curiosity, how tall are you anyway?
I won't discuss if what you ask is possible or not in a magical aproach, because sincerely I don't know.
But you talk about the bone structure surgery and that doctors don't talk about that possibility.
That is because it isn't really a possibility.
Although you could easily add a few centimeters to a bone like a femur, there is no way to efficiently create muscle, skin, and preserving the circulatory system in such procedure. And even if that was not a issue, you would end up in a version of yourself with freakish long legs. And I have to mention the surgery would be horrible to recover.
That said, submitting your body to this, be it by science and medicine or by magic, will be dangerous and probably painful. You should consider that if you do, or someone does to you, something that does not work as expected or fails, you could end in a worser situation.

Nonsense. These surgeries are performed regularly. They work. The soft tissue adapts to the growth of the bone, given proper care.frackture wrote:But you talk about the bone structure surgery and that doctors don't talk about that possibility.

For the degree and context of my desire, this is an issue. Which is why I don't pursue the surgery. And even if that was not a issue, you would end up in a version of yourself with freakish long legs.
It is. Yet nearly everyone who does it is glad they did it.And I have to mention the surgery would be horrible to recover.
