I am fairly new to spirit work and I am still learning to scry. I would like to do spirit work and I can do evocation but sometimes have trouble communicating. telepathy works best but that not always an option.
what should i do to communicate better before i can fully scry
what do you do?
and tips or tricks?
should i summon a spirit into me and communicate that way?
pendulum?
what should me expectations be?

I suspect the answers you get will all be intensely personal. For example, I use mirrors. For me, mirrors are so effective at creating suggestibility and opening perception that I avoid them unless I actually want to trigger them, since getting lost in my own eyes while brushing my teeth and going for a visit with the doppelganger, the Alien Other, is less than ideal. (I try not to have shattering existential crises before breakfast.) So from my own experience I'd tell you to try mirror scrying; but my suspicion is that others don't find mirrors anywhere near as effective as I do, and you may not either. Try different techniques from different paradigms and see which ones trigger the strongest reaction in you. Were you raised in a particular religion? Often the paradigm with which we were raised remains the strongest, and the rituals and traditions associated with it will be the most effective for you personally.

I would definitly recommend this book for all people interested in these subjects:
Speak With The Dead: 7 Methods For Spirit Communication by Konstantinos

On a personal note, you could try simple things like a Ouija board or a pendulum first. This may sound like a cliché but they truly are effective tools for reaching out to the unknown. If it doesn't work then maybe your should review you approach. Spirit communication requires will but also patience in many cases. You may also change location and/or bring trusted people in to see if that helps create the right environment.

It is free and very complete. See step V about communication with the invisible... but you should start at the beginning, step by step.
