I have come to terms concerning what I am doing these past months with (in my opinion) unbelievable results and have come to the term divination. I must say that I do not understand it thoroughly as I have defined it as a response to the stimuli from within or without which lead to personal discovery. Why response? Because it is a method, and you respond with action. This action would be in this case solving the riddle of symbolism.
When this idea first occurred to me I was experiencing "rebirth" being under the spell of Reich's methods. This was really intense experience and during it I saw like a burned in image in my mind representing flaming square. I have gone through some materials I had and browsed on the internet only to find connection with Platonic solids and the element of fire. I felt as thought I was "collecting" these solids which are reflections of my development. Few weeks ago I have had similar experience in which I saw blue pyramid. There also was preceeding intense emotional experience in which I have learned how to let go deep rooted desire mixed with strong feelings and most beautiful and sad memories. I felt like I died, closed my eyes only to see that there is nothing but this burnt in image. A great release and melancholic joy came after it.
Between the two I had and dragonfly flying near me in two separate places every time I had ran to these memories. I deciphered this symbolism as a impending change. I have seen it twice, and twice it happened. Once I was alone, in other moment I was with the person involved in these memories. First change - I was alone. Second - I was with the mentioned person.
I have also seen a labyrinth as I started my "descend into the underworld" - period of life where I must solve and endure some of the life's challenges which strips away a part of me in the process and shows me what I am. This labyrinth continued to appear on most random times and I have felt as I'm lost, confused and finding my way. I also "knew" somehow that I was to "kill the bull" which points to the blue pyramid/dragonfly situation. I have indeed killed the bull and met myself in some other, different light.
These are the most prominent situations where I was able to decipher, soothsay, or solve some problems by looking at symbols, deciphering them and by them and by feeling chose my actions. I am completely awed that a person can lead his life like this and that was a inspiration to start a topic in individual spirituality. But thinking about the next part I am delving on this for some time now only to find myself blissfully interested in tarot. That had started a train of thought only to reason that what I did must be a form of divination.
So I am writing here because I need the direction to go next. I can, from what I know, continue to remember the meanings of thousand different symbols and translate their meaning to my life within and without but something says to me that there is a whole new world waiting to be known. My questions then are: Where is the difference between real divination and selective attention? How to train this newfound ability? What can I do with it that could help other people? Does anyone else has similar experiences and can give me some word of advice?
Also I have found myself being able to predict some events in the immediate future by saying them out loud in a manner where I am not fully conscious of the said thing until it echoes in my mind and is followed by short and immediate burst of being fully conscious. So there are two things that I'm able to do: predict some events and find solutions to the problems within and without.
P.S. I am not really sure I can use the word "without" in service of describing the outer world but it seems so nice and it explains the thought in an easy way. It feels great to phrase it like that [lol]

Ill try to go more in depth later, but first let me say...
Everything is connected. Youll have to decide whats important to you and what you should spend more time and energy on.

Symbolism is the medium through which we interact with the world.
Its how we separate poison from food in the wild and communicate with each other at high levels of thinking.
Its true that its impossible to know every possible symbol out there and what it represents. However, its entirely unecessary.
First of all similar symbols can have different meanings to different people simply based on how they interact with them.
The snake is a great example.
However, its still very easy to extract from your reality what symbols are important to you, your current situation, and your overall development.
Remember that nothing exists without contrast to everything around it.
What a particular symbol means to some blog-witch on the internet may not be accurate to how you experience it and interact with it.
Its important to consider every symbol in relation to everything else you are experiencing.
Seeing a dragonfly around the time that they hatch near a pond or river is a symbol, but perhaps not as important as witnessing a bear wandering alone far from its home.
The first is something that occurs without much change in the world, while the second is an effect of a shift in the natural order of things.
I pay more attention to the latter symbol than the former.
Symbols are also one of the greatest tools the universe has to communicate directly with us. When we experience something over and over again its usually time for further inspection.
Why are you seeing the same color/model of a car (not the same car) on the road everytime you go for a drive?
Why do particular numbers or words keep reappearing in your experience?
Why do you seem drawn to particular people or places or events?
Paying attention to these symbols can lead you to discovering more about yourself and the world as it matters to you. This is important because you are the only one experiencing these symbols as you.

Re: Divination from the world within and without
My sceptic sense was tingling a lot when I first encountered a symbol. Feeling, sudden focus and a subtle change indicated that this was of some importance and I could not but continue to investigate it and isolate any pitfall which awaits me. I have an explanation for it which goes something like this: symbol wakes up our subconscious which in turn gives the symbol meaning. I don't hold strictly to definitions of symbols, as what I think and feel is the right explanation. I'm always searching for synchronicity or repetitiveness when facing them so to weed out ones that are of no use.
While I can wholeheartedly agree that some symbols have deep rooted meanings like Mother Earth and played a major role in development of human consciousness (language is a graveyard of dead symbols [greensmile] ), there is a big dose of individuality in these things. I have spent my younger years in playing with selective attention and was counting how many 3's or 5's have I seen today. Until it grew to interesting coincidences which led me to believe that 3 plays a major role in my life and pushed me to more mystical approach to life. I have very sceptical family and friends so they destroyed every bit of fantasy and delusion I was trying to share with them. That way I learned how to deal with coincidences and "effects of a shift in the natural order of things" to use your words.
