So, I have seen so many spells calling for this or that type of natural ingredient to use in magic and I had this crazy idea pop into my head. If there really is an occult using elite, and if there was an awakening occurring amount the newer generations, has anyone ever wondered if gmo and chemically laced stuff that we now produce and consume is distasteful to entities when used in rituals?
I guess I ask this because I always wondered why this oil, that spice, this herb, etc was important in a ritual to achieve a desired outcome. It never are sense to me unless using x,y,z things had a resonance which entities translated into a set of instructions for doing a certain outcome kind of like how a person needs Ikea instructions in the right order and language to properly construct the items they've bought.
Now, if we common folk have a harder and harder time finding truly natural ingredients, using what we have is kind of like using poory Chinese made parts to fix a luxury item made from somewhere else. The weathly, have no such difficulty obtaining the right parts which translate into the right insructions as it were and thus can keep others from the sand pinnacles as it were.
Anyway, just a weird thought I had when considering why ingredients matter to some entities and even if what's available to us now can be properly used.

Re: Weird Thought about the "elites"
I usually don't entertain conspiracy theories, but this one was kind of fun.
So please don't take this as an attack on you, I'm just going to argue against some of your points.
Many modern magicians are perfectly fine with just writing the word 'laurel leaf' on a piece of paper and present that. As long as your subconscious understands what you're trying to do.
Now, without having to go for a spirit quest for extremists like that, MOST health and alternative medicine places actually holds fairly high standards on their products. You can shop around and don't be afraid to ask questions. I found a company in Denmark that I trust to provide me with "clean" products.
AND if that isn't enough. The best way to get your plants, oil, spices, is to grow them yourself or go out in nature and pick them.
Consider also that there are other people doing this, and you might have something in your environment that they don't have and would be willing to trade for.
Collect the best ingredients that you can find (and afford) to show your dedication to this cause.
But there is nothing wrong with substitutions, and sometime we have to make a run for the supermarket spicerack because there just isn't enough time and money to collect it by hand under a fullmoon with a golden sickle.

Most magic works on the basis of being sympathetic. It's not that laurel leafs themselves contains any big power, but the leaf represent the tree it comes from and that tree represents the spiritual form of the laurel tree. And not just THAT tree. But all laurel trees.ghawke2 wrote:So, I have seen so many spells calling for this or that type of natural ingredient to use in magic and I had this crazy idea pop into my head. Exactly, resonance and symbolism. Such a simple thing as a laurel leaf holds many meanings and resonates with many different system of believes. So depending on your own knowledge, it will mean different things to you and thus, will represent your goal differently.I guess I ask this because I always wondered why this oil, that spice, this herb, etc was important in a ritual to achieve a desired outcome. Thankfully we're not there yet. There are several organizations and individuals who are furiously battling GMO and other modern methods. I'm in contact with several farms that only grows what has been growing on the land for hundreds of years. And there are seed collectors who stockpile anything they can find that is pre-1994. Get in contact with local farmers, local garden enthusiasts and any sort of vegan/hippie collectives that might be around. Now, if we common folk have a harder and harder time finding truly natural ingredients, using what we have is kind of like using poory Chinese made parts to fix a luxury item made from somewhere else.

There is enough magic in this universe for everybody. Heck some might even argue that the universe is magic and trying to monopolize the entire universe is like trying to drink the ocean. The weathly, have no such difficulty obtaining the right parts which translate into the right insructions as it were and thus can keep others from the sand pinnacles as it were.
It's not that the entities themselves see these ingredient as important. They exist for your sake. To show your resolve and effort. If you really want the favor of a god, you should at least take the time to collect the things that represent that god. Not just cry out in the night like some frightened child.Anyway, just a weird thought I had when considering why ingredients matter to some entities and even if what's available to us now can be properly used.
