i hope you will cool down and reconsider, and perhaps this would be good advice for all those who played a part in upsetting you so. everyone makes mistakes, and perhaps some of the damage can be undone, and second chances given. and perhaps you'll give us one as well.
note that i say all this without knowing anything of the thread in question, so it's not a matter of taking sides.

LH, I am sorry, I don't wish to see you go.
I was unaware of it, for that I apologize. I have removed the offending posts and have brought up the banning of thermo in the office. This is a true miscarriage of justice and I feel it needs to be dealt with. I am doing what I can to help balance this out.

Goodbye, and thanks for your consistently great posts. Pity I won't see more of them. You know, if you want to do me a favor, join the IOT and we'll be sure to meet sometime, somewhere, and exchange demon summoning trivia.

I
Lady, I hope you read this response.
You have let other people's actions CONTROL your actions and that is something that no Magickian should ever allow. You are too fine a Magickian to fall into this trap.
I have watched your posts in the CM forum and have enjoyed all of them. I have found you to be intelligent, daring, and knowledgable and your loss is a loss for all of us.
The CM forum was NOT the cause of your "controlled" decision but the CM Forum is being punished. I do not understand...but I will respect your decision.
I wish you well Lady and say that I will miss you. You brought your light into the Forum and shined brightly. And, you demonstrated beyond any doubt that Ceremonial Magick is for BOTH women and men.
I am sorry for your decision. Best of luck Lady.
Very Humbly, I AM
I totally agree with I AM - If you have backed yourself into a corner just walk out of it!!!!!
Your posts are one of the major reasons why I enjoy this forum.
Many people here genuinely care about you and need your wisdom & humor - you have the ability and opportunity to be a teacher and guide for many in this form.
What a shame and loss if you choose not to continue wih your contributions
I thank you for all the wisdom and joy your posts have provided

As someone who saw the thread in question, Hangatyr did absolutely nothing wrong. Honestly, I don't see how blindly accepting outrageous claims and delusional "otherkin" fantasies benefits anyone.
If this is a roleplaying board, fine. But I was under the impression that this forum was created to discuss the occult in a respectible manner. Things like claiming to be an alien and trying to create some sort of post-modern grimoire out of "Durante's" (it's Dante, by the way) Inferno only serves to make this board a laughingstock.
I'm sure I'll be banned for these comments, which is fine by me, but someone needed to state the obvious. Folks, being interested in the occult does not mean that you have to leave your common-sense and/or brain at the door.

Funny, first day on the boards, and I've already come to respect and enjoy your posts.
Painful, to see that you left before I ever arrived, but temporal chaos in our moderized crystalline communiscape works that way sometimes.
Hopeful, that someone has a way of contacting you, and informing you of Doh's active response, that seeing your intent (flame be gone) actualized, your time of parting may pass and we may see your triumphant return, the duration of the required deletion and of your absence having been left undetermined and thus mutable.
Interested, that the Name thermonuclear_soul was at the heart of a vicious, out of control, massive explosion of metaphorical flame.
Glory, Peace, or Love to you, Fair Lady, in whatever measure you desire.
In Admiration,

At this point in time your comments arent appreciated, at least in this thread by me. It is inappropriate in my opinion and rude. You may not be banned but I hope that you read this and think about it for yourself, I'm not saying your opinion dosent count or that it is invalid but please be respectful. It is a great loss to many people that Lady Hydralisk is leaving as well as Nylad, how many more people do we have to lose before some of you get it? Posts like this do not help, this is a community where we have chosen to gather and share our knowledge with eachother, most of us respect eachother, so you can either be part of the solution or part of the problem. By the By just for good measure more people Subscribed to that post than I've seen since I've been here, it was a great post. I see you've only made 8, and you come here to ridicule and cause havoc. Where is your great work? How would you like it if someone insulted something you put your heart and soul into? You need to be careful and think about all the other people in here who do care about this, This forum may not mean anything to you but it means a great deal to many others. This is thier refuge from the storm, a safe haven for people who in their own homes and communities are shamed for thier belifs. So no big deal if you get banned... so you say, but today we lost two wonderful people who meant a great deal to us, what if that were you?

Karcist
First, we do not ban people for stating their opinions. That is what these forums are for.
Opinions are one thing. However, we also need to treat fellow members with respect. I may not like your opinions but that does NOT give me the right to insult you personally or attack YOU the person. Challenging other's ideas are one thing. Attacking the person is another and the guidelines are clear about that behavior.
JusticeAngel is correct. Losing valued members has to stop. It is the behavior of other members that is behind these respected members leaving. This behavior has to stop.
I am saying this as both a member and a moderator.

You believe in some of these, like everyone else on these boards do... you have to put up with the knowledge such claims would yield intolerance or disbelief from almost anyone you would ever mention such 'fantasies' to? And yet, you turn right around and give the same courtesy to these posters right here? On a DISCUSSION FORUM, where, theoretically, everyone is free to state their own opinions? Open your mind, man... or at least be a bit more accepting. Come on.
ok, so you're trying to tell me you believe, perhaps, in a world that lies behind our everyday reality, perhaps in magical powers of some sort or another, physical or based in the imagination... you might believe in the idea of evoking otherworldly spirits, reincarnation or the goal of enlightenment as being that of Union with God, knowing your 'True Will' or leaping into the abyss and destroying your 'Ego'.As someone who saw the thread in question, Hangatyr did absolutely nothing wrong. Honestly, I don't see how blindly accepting outrageous claims and delusional "otherkin" fantasies benefits anyone.

oh well, it's the internet, i personally use the skip and ignore method to deal with the fact. i know it's not much of a solution, but in a non-private forum it's the easiest way to enjoy the good parts, some of which were LadyHydralisk's and Nalyd23's posts.

Hey Ms. Lady, I will miss your always interesting posts. Hopefull you will find a way to stay with us.
And to those who do not appreciate your Dante thread or other even more unusual perspectives, as Steven Braude stated (roughly), if you are going to open the door to the possibility of the paranormal at all, even a tiny bit, you have to open it all the way.

Thank you Karcist. I have to say, I agree with you. Allowing outrageous and unnwarranted RPG-like claims to go unchallanged ruins the integrity of this site and the occult community in general, but now, I'll be the first to admit that myself and other people who challanged his claims went about it all wrong. That way of dealing with people like that has worked in the past. Maybe we weren't as harsh about it, but using sarcasm to critisize bullshit claims has both kept people from coming back to make more because they know no one will accept them (this is the motivation behind most of them anyway, acceptance) and it has caused some to "wake up and smell the coffee" so to speak, and simply stop making such claims, instead they might try to LEARN something or CONTRIBUTE something useful. We didn't (or atleast I didn't) know that it would turn in to a huge flame war. We didn't know that TS would go off on a "flaming spree" randomly insulting people. We didn't know that the whole mood of the forums would become so antagonistic that some people would just leave. We just got a little more angry than usual due to the larger than average amount of bullshitting going on and acted without thinking about ALL of the consequences. I don't think anyone's mentioned this, but in addition to Lady Hydralisk and Nalyd, two new people, The Mad One and Ced, were driven away by the flaming. I'm not saying we should've just accepted his bullshit and let him spout off whatever Star Wars/D&D-inspired claim he felt like spouting, I'm just saying we should've handled it better, challenged them intelectually instead of sarcastically. We should have discussed them instead of starting an arguement about it.
I'm not trying to get on anyone's good side here. I just don't want this kind of thing to happen ever again.

Karcist

Goodbye!

I'm sorry to see you go Lay Hydralisk. I never got to talk to you personally but I could see you were most wise and one heck of a Madwoman!
Now we'll never get what I was sure was gonna be one Hell of a halloween evocation story from this Fascinating Magus. I was hoping for Paimon. Wow. She was a brave woman. Standing firmly before the Kings of Hell. She was something else. Unique in her flight. I will miss her too.
Perhaps after time has passed she can return with a new name and a new style. I suggest she try a male character, next time? People are always going to be rediculous and immature its no reason to run from where you are welcome and admired. Well, regardless. I wish you well in what you do. I may not be as powerful as you are Lady Hydralisk, but I know better then to let some random jack-ass dictate what iI do with my life. I understand you gave your word, I respect that, but if it is binding you to a course that does not benefit you what good is it? Why deprive others and yourself over what was, IMO, just silly. This thread should be enough to show that this board tries harder then any other to stay mature but nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever be perfect. Screw the people that piss you off. You came here for the people you LIKE.

Hey all, this is my last post just to acknowledge all the ceremonial magicians who responded and to answer a few questions that seem to be suspended here.
I'm sorry some of you believe I am being manipulated. First and foremost I am a creature of justice, and aside from the scathing welcome given to what could have been an important asset to the forum (Thermonuclear_soul), there are other issues I have with the forums. TS was completely justified in his reaction to the flaming by, mainly 9~6~3 and Hangatyr 13, I would have done the same, had I been treated in the same way. The moderator who banned Thermonuclear_soul used a style of posting which was ingratiating to me personally, demeaning and hypocritical considering how the original offending posts were ignored for 24 hours. When a banning is done it does not need to be anounced in such a manner. Instead of the proper avenues being taken, which would be a zero tolerance for all the postees in question, a full banning of all the flamers (including Thermonuclear_soul) would be the only action that would have served justice. Or at least warnings for all three. In fact Hangatyr's rather shockingly close-minded comments about "getting on my zerg spaceship" were so completely out of line I cannot believe the moderators have not banned him already not to mention the trolling going on in this thread, and in threads past not even related to this incident by various other toxic members.
The problem with Occult Forums appears to be a systematic and contagious disease, if these types of people are allowed to continue and thrive here, it will degenerate into an oppressive and derelict enviroment. The ceremonial forum, as far as I am concerned, was the last bastion of a respectful and decent enviroment.
If Occult Forums is to continue I would humbly suggest a zero tolerance policy be introduced for any sort of flaming, secondly all moderators, without exception, be held to samesaid policy and reevaluated as soon as possible. There are some really good folders in which the majority of members and moderators are fair and just. (Doh for instance, thank you for removing those posts)
The problems with members are mainly of these kinds:
Those seeking to raise their post count, posting stupid comments or useless fluff in every little thread they can find this is KILLING the forums with mindless spam and there is nothing wrong with me saying these facts. I am pointing out the Yak in the dining room here.
Spell-Checkers. People who discount what you say because you misspell something. These people need to be banned immediately, and then burned at the stake.
The Young and the Restless. These types treat the boards like a soap opera. You can sit and spy on them, during any drama, in the activity feature of the forum. They go to the offending thread. A minute later they go to PM's. Then they go back to another thread with another argument going on and backup one of their 'friends' arguments. They very rarely contribute anything of occult value. To them it might as well be the "All My Children" roleplaying forum. This is becoming a huge trend on OF because the membership body is approaching a more aged status, friendships are being formed, minds are becoming biased, even among the moderators a blind eye is turned towards these people if they are friends with them. This could be solved with a default moderator account who's only purpose is warnings, banning and post removal. Then there is no one to place the blame on.
The last problem is close-mindedness. It's because of this that many, many members do not share their secrets. I started opening up about the teachings I had been given because I thought that it might encourage others to do the same, and I've grown a pretty tough shell to ridicule. (That happens when you figure out you can shove Andras five feet up their ass at any time, yet have no desire to do so) I am the exception to the rule. Most magicians are very shy of outsiders, especially sorcerers and necromancers and such, they have been persecuted for ages and ages. In fact if I AM hadn't posted a year or so ago encouraging sharing of experiences I probably would not have begun doing so.
This is my last post, I apologize for any inconvenience. I hope Occult Forums gets restored one day.

Well I only posted the alien crap because someone posted on a subject I knew about in relation to that. If everyone had just let well enough alone, I might be enjoying my own nutty little conversation about aliens, you get a good laugh, and everyone continues on happy. Any scholar of literature will tell you that both Durante and Dante are fine. Durante is the proper name, while Dante is a contraction. You should be banned and burned at the stake for trying to base an argument on this indescrepancy, had it EVEN BEEN one. In the light of a billion stars, you are a speck of protein and minerals. Keep inspecting the spelling, brother.
Things like claiming to be an alien and trying to create some sort of post-modern grimoire out of "Durante's" (it's Dante, by the way) Inferno only serves to make this board a laughingstock.
