Charging a Crystal Ball

I recently got a new crystal ball. Tomorrow night I intend to cleanse and charge it under the light of the full moon. I have searched all over the 'net for a good ritual for this, but have found little. I have put together the following from what I have found. Does it sound okay?

First I am going to give it a cleansing bath in water and a teaspoon of sea salt. (Unfortunately I have no mugwort and no time to get any.) I will towel dry it gently then wrap it in the black silk cloth I keep it in. I'll take it outside and unwrap it. I will hold it up to the light of the full moon and say:

Great White Lady of the sacred night
Fill this orb with thy holy light.
Past and future, far and near
May it grant true sight where e'er I peer.

I will then set it down in a safe place where it can bask in the rays of the Lady's purifiying light for at least an hour. Then I'll wrap it back up in the cloth and take it back inside, ready for use.

Does this sound okay?

I recently got a new crystal ball so this thread interests me. I've also ruined a perfectly fine crystal with salt water (the little salt crystals stuck in it indefinitely) so I won't try my luck anymore. The poor crystal was in the water overnight though... I gave it to a friend so I won't have to feel guilty when I see it. :evil:

Your rite sounds good IMO. The moon looked pretty tonight, I think it's gonna be awesome full moon.

Well, my ball isn't real crystal, it's glass, so don't think the salt will hurt it unless I accidentally scratch it...

Ah ok.. I've never tried a glass ball but I'm sure it works fine.

Now that I think of it, Paul Huson suggested washing the crystal ball in an infusion of wormwood, and letting it dry before use. I wonder if the effect is different than with mugwort...

The most important thing is not the herbs that you use, nor is it the words that you say.

It is a clear intent (know, dare, will) to use the item for scrying that powers the words and the herbs. Do whatever is necessary to have that clear in your mind when you consecrate the item, and every time that you use it and you will obtain the desired result.

If you lack the intent, you can bathe it the purest Alchemical essences and get no result.

You power your crystal ball, not the other way around.

I did mine a little different ly. My system is a bit different though. I evoked an elemental ( Ghob) and asked him to charge the crystal for divination use. Actually there were several items needing charging and recharging a pendulum of aqua aura and a amythest geode which I use on the north side of the alter.

The spirit used isn't the point here and you can use whoever you want or work well with but asking someone to do I find is very effective and can compensate for weaknesses in the crystal or in myself better than a spell type technique.

I've never considered using a crystal ball before but now I'm intrigued. Since I'm a bit partial to Hellenistic deities, I would probably invoke Apollo, and go with bay leaves. o.o

I use bay leaves,sometimes too.They are useful for warding purposes among various other things.

If I understand the method correctly, the ball is a visual focal point while mental or hypnagogic imagery takes place and is available for interpretation? Or is the idea that the variable images in the ball somehow form information? Is the ball a tool for inner focus or the means of taking in outside information?

I think it varies a lot,depending on who is the scyrer and what methodologies they follow paradigmally etc

I achieve a soft focus,through gazing at a prism or ball,mirror,shiny object or other similar tool.It gives my mind a relaxed feel that enables my perception to widen without working it hard,consciously
Huna 'soft eyes' focus method does this too without using a physical tool.

I like bus or train windows,in darkness outside,too.I get tv picture qulality images with those and other black or dark scry mediums.

I think it can be a combination of both inner focus and external stimuli.I would say I use inner focus with the crystals and other 'see into/through' materials.Dark materials seem to be more of an external or surface focus,for me anyway.IMMV.

Very helpful! I was thinking of getting a black ball for that reason, actually, so maybe that's what I'll do.
