Animal Bones as Divination Tool

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

Is anyone familiar with this practice. Im reading a book at the moment called Chaos & Sorcery by Nicholas Hall (which I highly recommend). In it he talks about using different divinig methods (runes etc), and also animal bones. What I want to know is, do any of you use this method, and if so how is it done. Im familiar with the use of runes, which the author explains in the book (all be it a crash course) but theres no explanation of the bone method. I believe its used in vodoun so might be asking in the wrong place. Any help is appreciated

I've never doen it myself but from what I gather it's much like using tea leaves, rocks (pebbles and such not runes), and other loose items in the sense you let them settle or toss them etc. and search for patterns and symbols. Another way I could think of would be using various types of bones and using the animals attributes as a sort of key as you draw them like Tarot cards or runes. Or you could always choose a bone at random and note what it 'shows' you. Never seen much info about it in the 'traditional' sense though :s

Hmm... well, people used to cast sheep's "knuckles" (hell, I didn't even know sheep had fingers! :D )... if they came up one way it meant yes, other side up meant no... used to gamble with 'em, too... can't be any more complicated than reading entrails...

Wait, what the hell; how did you get a copy of that book, I'm still waiting for a copy of that book from panpipes.com. I've been waiting for at least four months now, and I'm sort of poed.

You know what I'm going to ask for my money back and buy the book from another place! I'm never going to buy from that store ever again!!! :x

Hey GotNoSoul, I looked at that German store that has the book, but I don't know if I could trust the link that they give to citizens in the U.S.

Actually I've had excellent luck with panpipes. However don't trash other sites here we're an intellectual site. I don't mind negative experiences being talked about but do it in a way that does not come accross as flaming the site. I'd be saying this even if I had negative experiences with panpipes. Since I don't see Jymie or Vicky here to defend themselves in refrain from flaming them. Also READ the rules.
Yes: I had a bad experience with this site because...

No: $#*% that f-ing site really sucks. They gave me the most r-t**ded info. I don't what their f***t***ed @$$** are smoking. They suck!

I have cast bones for divination I LOVE it :) It's a great way to use bones instead of tossing them. I've got excellent results and visions using this form of divination. I think Serena Power's site has something on casting bones for divination.

My husband uses a similar method using stones instead of bones uses stones. He looks for triangles patterns :)

Also it is a joy to pick up big 'ole mice jaws, and little coyote skulls and look at them cute teeth and wonder what they chomped on as they ran around here and there. Yep, a lot of divine info in old bones layin' around. For real. Dont want no 2legged onez though to roll the dice with, unless i wanna get some big spooky dilemmaz down the road
