I'm curious if there is any special way your supposed to use it? I've heard that you are supposed to cleanse yourself, the space, and possibly cast a circle to disable any "negative" spirits. Those who use the boards, how do you start? Do you practice and opening ritual?

The Psychic Circle and Angel Board ae very much like Ouija boards. I think that they created the Angel Board so that people wouldn't feel so freaked out using a board to speak to different spirits and entities but I could be wrong. THe Psychic Circle is like the Ouija Board just round.

Divination boards are like using a cell phone.

When you use a Ouija board First you want to cleanse and purify it. Second you want to ward (put protections on) it. 3 Whenever you use it in a cleaned and purified area cast circle (A protective circle/sphere) also focus on drawing in positive spirits and entities where and when you are using it. When I work with a divination board I leave something for the spirits and entities to eat and drink by the board at the side of the board. I also show them the respect I would show any guest in my home. I thank them for their time when I'm done. I'll put candles at the four corners of the ouija board too to keep negative spirit and entities from coming through.

I'be been on too many clean up crews over the years because somebody thought of it as a game but usually because someone didn't take the proper precautions before using a ouija bord.

Here are some pics of my new hand made board, customized to my specifications... note the rune circle around the outer edge...

Ain't it bee-yoo-tee-ful? I'm tempted to just hang it on the wall, & not even "ouija" with it...

Rick, your board is awesome. And Dracophoenix, the Psychic Circle looks nothing like that. It is square, very colorful, and has MANY different answer options all over it (the usual yes/no/numbers/letters, plus zodiac signs, colors, 4 directions, 4 elements, lots of little pics that mean different things, etc.).

I have one and tried it for the first time today (used LBRP and smoldering frankincense / myrrh / dragon's blood for protection). I got nada. Zip, zilch, zero. I tried for 30 mins requesting 2 entities/spirits by name and finally asked for ANYBODY to respond. I'm about to decide wet cement has more psychic abilities than me. I couldn't get a pendulum or divining rods to move either.

You know what they say, when the same thing keeps going wrong...... it's you.

Sorry for the misinformation. I know I saw a circular shaped divination board somewhere. Thought it was the Pychic Circle one but now it's gonna wrack my brain trying to remember which one it was. I thought it was cool seeing a circular shaped board instead.

Not a prob. Like you, it seems that I've seen a circular one too and can't remember what it was named. I almost made one; I found a circular piece of board (about the size of a chair seat) and have hung onto it.

I got a ouija board from my uncle for my birthday, and I've used it quite alot since. I only was able to contact someone once. I'm not so good at divination or talking to the deceased.

Well I have a Ouija story of my own I can share for your entertainment. Before I go into this I just want to say that Ouija is not something I have ever really been into but this was an interesting experience anyway so here we go. Back in 1999 my wife at the time insisted we get one of those boards at Spencer's Gifts that Milton Bradley (or whatever game company) makes and try it out. I had been into occultism in general for some years but I NEVER did anything with my wife. Well we tried it out that night and of course, just like I expected it did nothing and in order to lively things up I did what a lot of people do, I started faking it. After about an hour of convincing my wife that we had contacted something and it had taken control of the board I decided to really add something to it and I went with the first name that came to mind which was of all things Beelzebub, I think because I had a copy of Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson close by. I did not tell my wife about my concentrating on Beelzebub at all. She started acting really silly after about 15-20 minutes and grabbed me and held me down on the floor doing silly things that you do as a couple. Anyway in the middle of this unexpected silliness she had me pinned to the floor and was acting out of character and looked me dead in the eyes in all seriousness and said "Beelzebub". I must say I was a bit shocked at this one. She even pronounced it correctly. Later she said she didn't know why she said it when I drilled her about the whole thing. Looking back I wish she and I would have done Magick together but she was not open enough to want to learn and was actually kind of scared of what I did. We never did anything with that Ouija board after that either.

I have tried using the premade one by myself and have not been able to make it work, I've also made one and gone through the cleansing/purification/candles etc. process and it has worked. Not sure why I can't make it work alone...

Whenever you make something yourself for yourself it's gonna work because it's all your own energies. The body usually doesn't reject itself.

You really shouldn't use a ouija board alone. It highly increases the chances of either negative consequences or nothing happening at all. Nothing happening at all is far better than the negative concequences that can happen. However I've known people who've used ouija boards alone it worked and they had no problems because of it.

Well, since you guys have much more experience on this than me, perhaps you can shed some light on something that happened to me last year...

I'm not a big Oujia fan, but a group of friends from Uni asked me to supervise them while they did it. So I said, yeah, sure. I did some protective energy works, nothing fancy, and then let them try it. (They got to go first since they would NOT believe me if I did it, so, I just let them get a feel by themselves than try to explain it to some hard-headed types.)

Classic first impressions; old boyfriend contacts one of the girls... although what was interesting was that someone else was doing it and the point got dragged all the way to the girl, even out of the board. It did stop there and I didn't feel anything bad so, after asking everyone, we carried on.

After much weeping from the girl when she was finished they insisted on me doing it. When I started with the questions the board gave very vague answers, and when I grew a little annoyed and told them that I was serious and didn't want to play around they forced a "Goodbye"...

So, what do you guys think happened? was it my attitude? ^_^'

Do you have any specific instructions as to how to make one? I'm interested in trying it out, but I don't have the money to buy one. Could I just use a piece of cardboard, or something?

When I've used a ouija board with my cousin a few times we neither of us brought one along. Here's what we did to make one. The one time we just used a sheet of notebook paper a pencil and a cheap styrofoam cup to make our own ouija board while on holiday. Another time we used a shot glass. lipstick and an empty pizza box. And another time we used a makeup mirror, eyeliner and a bottle of asprin. So there is no "proper" way to make a ouija and you can use ANYTHING and they aren't too expensive either to make. Be imaginative and creative. Be inventive :)

Thanks, Dracophoenix.

We've gone over the creation of the board and the steps before, but is there a proper way to acually use it? Do you just start by saying "hello" and wait for your hand to move? How have you started?

Pretty much when my cousin and I would use the ouija board we'd say hi and invite the spirits in like a casual friend. Nothing formal. We'd thank them for coming to chat with us :) then next introduce ourselves first and ask if they wished to let us know their name so that we could call them by it and welcome them graciously into our circle. You don't have to say or do anything special just be polite, respectful and work with someone you feel comfortable with. Then when you are done or they are done thank them again and say good bye.

Ouija Boards and other Divination Boards (Questions & Discussion)

I tried today for the second time to work with my Psychic Circle talking board. And for the second time, got nothing. The first time, in addition to wearing a pentacle and burning myrrh/ frank/DB (all for protection), I also did the LBRP. I had a tape recorder going and a notebook and pen handy to jot down everything. I had a specific list of questions to ask and I requested specific entities present. I got zilch.

This time I decided that maybe I had been trying too hard and treating it too much like a scientific experiment. I kept the pentacle and incense, but did a much simpler prayer and visualization for protection. I had 4 white candles at the cardinal points, I requested any benevolent entites who wished to answer my questions, and I didn't turn on the tape recorder. I even asked near the end if anyone could communicate to me something I could to make it easier for them (figured it was worth a shot).

I got no response for the second time. For the record I will say that I do comprehend this is not necessarily bad; at least nothing nasty showed up and blew my house apart. But my friend claims she was fooling around with a Ouija 20 years ago when she was 13, and they got it to respond; she remembered the questions and answers they asked. I'm a seasoned adult and I can't get a nibble (pout pout).

Did anybody else have to try multiple times before getting a response? Is it necessary to have more than one person? I was doing this alone, and my friend had several in her group.

Thanks,
PhoenixR

Edited to add: That was Sat. 11/06/04 and I tried again today 11/07/04, slightly varying from the ritual outlined above. Still no response. Now this really is a scientific experiment, to see just how many tries it takes or when my interest in it will wane.

There have been several times I have tried and got nothing. And then there have been times when I learned more than I wanted. I suppose like the living, sometimes the spirits just don't want to be bothered and refuse to answer the call. Kinda like when you're in a bad mood and the phone rings, and you just don't answer. I did however have an experience one time when I was 18, two friends and I were trying to contact a spirit that inhabited that friends house... apparently it got pissed; because the pointer began to get hot and started to melt. It melted a spot about the size of a quarter . Needless to say, we didn't go any further. Back then I was scared to death, now I wish we had pressed on. I have often wondered if we caused this ourselves though.

I've only actually started using a ouija board today. I just made my own, and had results within a few minutes. And, as for the sun/moon symbols, I think they're just there to represent yes/no. Personally, I drew a pentegram and put "yes" inside that, then did an upside-down pentegram and put "no" inside that.
