Original post: The Other Steve

My favourite is the leech. Much maligned, this little beastie is seeing a resurgence in popularity in medical circles as it has proved invaluable in the treatment of burns and plastic surgery patients, especially where appendages have been re-attached. I once attached about five English river leeches to my arm on a biology field trip, too small (or too full) to bother biting me, but made a great way to terrify the girls as I followed them around pulling faces. In hindsight this was probably why I never got dates when I was younger.

The varieties farmed for hospitals are not native to the UK, and workers have to wear special suits when they go into the rooms to collect them. The wily leeches slinky their way up the wall and drop on them from the ceiling when they come into the room. Not a job for the squeamish!

Factual: I agree with the Other Steve. There is something disgusting but entirely cool about them at the same time.

Fictional: I'd have to go with Frost from the movie "Blade". He's just exactly what I thought a stereotypical blood sucker would be.

This of course is completely leaving psi-vamps out of the equation.

Mythos -- I think the Varcolaki (sp?). No real reason behind it.

Entertainment -- Probably Armand from Ann Rice ... but before the book focusing on him came out. I like the mystery of his past better. Or Maybe Nicholas, from the same storyline. They were both so passionate.

Real life -- I wanna say maggots. Those things are fully capable of grosssing me out to vomiting just by sight -- but at the same time, they can be useful in primitive medicinal practices.

Factual... sorta, kinda, not really, but yeah: The Chupacabra... yeah its just creepy.

Mythical: Empusa... Hecate sure made some great kids, didnt she?

Fictional: Marius, it would definately be Marius.

I just can't go past Akasha from the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice for a fictional selection.

As for factual, I'd go with lice, specifically the pubic type. Funny little bastards.

Fictional would be Bunnicula. When i was younger i kept settin gout traps for him because i thought he'd gotten into my yard. (after i brought home a mouse my mother told me about this thing called parsnips)
Factualy would have to be vampire bats. they're just so cute.

 I guess my favorite type of vampire would be the blood suckers. As to why, I guess because of the fact that since I was little at times I would get this urge out of nowhere to suck blood like a vampire so I guess I kind of identify with them. Now to put everyones mind at ease I have not sucked blood from anyone, I successfully supress those urges. Go ahead and call me crazy.

For factual vampire...um...ME! Haahaa...just kidding, although I do have a tendency to suck on my finger if its bleeding (like from a hang nail) and also to bite (my boyfriend and a few of his friends can confirm that  )

For fictional, I love Asher from the Anita Blake series written by Laurell K. Hamilton. If you haven't read any of her books...do so, she's a better writer than Anne Rice in my opinion.

fictional, I'd go with the Tremere from Vampire: The Masquerade. They're cool because they're absolute bastards and everyone has good reason to hate them.

Factual... Vampire Bats. I like bats.

Fictional: The Tzimisce from Vampire: The Masquerade and Dark Ages: Vampire. Those are some evil-ass dudes, and their philosophy even though it's based in a fictional vampire-world, is strangely similar to mine. They have cool powers too.

Mythological: The Penengallan. There's just something about severed heads with visera hanging from them flying around and drinking people's blood that just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Factual: I think sanguinarians are cool. I'd do it myself, but I'm afraid of AIDS.

Theoretical: Immortal Blood-drinkers as mentioned in "Vampires: The Occult Truth" by Konstantinos. If I saw a corpse get up and start drinking people's blood, I'd probably decapitate it and then turn it into a big, smelly bonfire, but I'd want to shake it's hand first.

Well, well vampires?

Fictional I would say I relate to the Kindred of the East from the creators of Vampire: The Masquerade. I love the Asian setting and the way they have to fight to keep in balance with the universe and themselves.

Factual people that eat the flesh of other humans that's right Cannibals. I haven't eaten the flesh of another human being so don't worry. There is just something that draws me to their kind, in my opinion it's interesting.

Mythological I would say sex vampires like the Succubus and the Incubus. They always make the best lovers and demonic hordes.

My favorite type of fictional vampire is Cainites from White Wolf's old World of Darkness setting.

My favorite real world vampires must be Asetians. I have argued so much with Etu about them they have become sort of endeared to me. Awww!

That reminds me that I so miss the member EtuMalku from the old OccultForums. He and me used to have so wonderful discussions. I have seen him over at OccultCorupus I think. It is a shame he is not on this forum.

I like Dracula, classic. He has weird powers like turning 2-D, causes supernatural storms at his coming, but has a butt load of weaknesses and gets killed by a bowie knife.

If it's RL vampires... I don't like or dislike them more or less than anyone else.

ok I'm going to give you some steps to follow if you want to go to heaven.
step one: read the manga serie called "hellsing"
step 2: enjoy the totally coolness and kickass ability of alucard
step 3: forget about every other vampire you knew before (specially the ones from twilight)
you're done

Dracula definatly is my favorite vampire. So wonderfully playful and maliciously tasteful in his actions and the way he hunts. He is the original P.I.M.P.

Twilight vampires are nothing more than disco balls with pointy teeth compared to Dracula.
