Positive / Negative vs. Beneficial / Detrimental

Warning mild rant .......

One of my pet peeves... the glib and often all inclusive use of the terms Positive and Negative; when in all actuality they are meaning Beneficial and Detrimental. In my opinion this overlooks a great occult meaning to these terms.

Positive: To posit or place ie. cumulative

Negative: To negate or remove ie. reductive

Both positive and negative forces can be either beneficial or detrimental.

In the LBRP for example I employ Negative energy to "negate" the elemental forces within my sphere. In the LIRP I employ Positive energy to "posit" the elemental forces within my sphere.

I apologize for the semi-rant... but this has been nagging at me a great deal as of late and I was wondering what kind of reaction and conversation this could stir up.
