I don't really understand offering anything to Goetic spirits. My experience has always been that unless your ego projects one upon them, they don't HAVE a personal agenda, and that anything they *seem* to demand is only to help you get what it is you are asking them for. This can be confusing, because often what they demand seems to have nothing to do with the results you're after, but hey. They know things we don't. Why else would we call them?
Goetic spirits, and magick in general, will only manifest your physical desires as far as you allow your Karma to be warped/altered to fit the requirements. For example: a lazy ass who sits around smoking pot all day will have to do a lot more karmic warping to get wealth from Bune than someone who already has their own business and works 60 hours a week. Common sense, right? The trick is knowing how far you can strain your Karma--so that's where your HGA comes in. It will keep you Temperate (i.e. within "enjoyable" parameters).

Karma, btw, is a GOOD thing. It gives us foundation and direction. It's a limitation of the Cross which allows our Rose of opportunities to blossom out to infinity.

Goetic spirits, and magick in general, will only manifest your physical desires as far as you allow your past, present, and future to be altered from what it *is* into what you *desire.* To get X you may be required to give up Y. Without a strong connection to your HGA, a person is only too likely to find themselves wreaking massive havok on their life (and mental state, likely as not) to get X, because in giving the Goetic spirit leave to get X, their Y will be ripped from their life regardless of whether they like it or not (just an example. It doesn't mean something will necessarily be "lost" but there will be a cost). An HGA, however, will remind you (for lack of a better term) of such things and allow you to make better CHOICES. However, ultimately it's your choice, and your HGA is almost always willing to standby and watch you make a choice that later on you may view as a catastrophe.
As far as the HGA, I always kind of view it as a straight line of perfection--a sort of dead center, but like a serpent about a Caduceous I can deviate from it as I see fit to explore an infinite amount of possibilities, even though ultimately I can only strain so far away from dead center before I'm pulled around to the other side again to maintain balance...oops, sounds a lot like Karma again, doesn' t it ;-) Karma isn't about good or evil, it's about BALANCE. That's it's only proper function.
