I've been trying to project for awhile now, and I've accomplished (or nearly accomplished) leaving my body. I feel my body float up into the air, at this point I want to see what's going on, I open my eyes and see if I've left my body behind me but no luck.
Granted, I was only out of the body for a few seconds. I was just wondering if I'm being to impatient and that it might take five minutes to get used to it, or if I just can't see my body.
The first thing I do whenever I project is try to look and see my body.
Not seeing my body.

question your reasons for wanting to see the body
it may help you achieve different results
things are not always as they are on the phsycial, in the etheric
in my opinion, the challenge here is to push any experience that you receive, in order to gain a better perspective, in order to gain a higher understanding,
in order to integrate your experience,
in order for the real work to be done
you can play around with trying to find the body, it can be fun,
but it could also take a lifetime.
more interesting to me is
"what's happening"
"what is this"

If your first problem is being able to see at all, don't sweat it. This is one of the more common beginning problems. Clear sight involves a lot of detailed information, and to get it you have to get more energy into your projected body/ improve your awareness. Do this simply by knowing what the problem is and remembering what to do. Along with trying to open your eyes, visualize "energy" flowing up into your projection, and try to study all the sensations you do have. You need to "wake up" more.
When you are out of body, your body will have a kind of gravitational effect trying to pull you back into it that decreases exponentially as you move away from it. Seeing your body will increase the power of this effect, and in the case of less experienced projectors it will usually end their projection immediately. Rather than try to look at your physical body, look around your room and at your astral hands. If you have figured out how, move away from your body to stay out. However, you should keep your first projections as short as possible. The longer you are out the less likely you will even remember the event afterwards.

Thanks for that information. I'll just have to keep practicing, and start remembering more. At some points during the experience, I'm not sure whether or not I am projecting because everything seems almost exactly the same as my room (Except its much brighter and easier to see in.) I guess if I saw my body lying there I might realize more that I've achieved a more exploratory state.
