Safety Measures and Warnings
Restarting a thread from one of the previous OF incarnations...

What safety precautions do you take before/during undergoing astral projection? What dangers are there in the astral, or in doing psi work? How do you protect your own wellbeing?

I'm glad you posted this. I have never been successful in Astral Projection and I must admit, I have fears over the whole shebang

I have heard a lot about the cord that attaches your physical and non-physical body. Some have said that this cord is not visible. Followers of Qabalah mention that in their astral travels they come accross Sandalphon, the Archangel of Malkuth......who gives them a sword to 'smite' demons or nasty entitites that you might encounter on the Astral plane

(this is all anecdotal on my part as I have no idea and have no experience with such)


What would happen IF IT WERE possible, that you inadvertantly cut through the cord attaching you to the physical body.....would you die?

Again PLEASE forgive my ignorance but this is something that has gone through my mind since reading various sources

Is there any evidence that AP increases your likelyhood of being psychically attacked?

Also what shielding is there available whilst you are outside your physical body?

For general psi work it's best to know the basics...If you are jumping past the general psi work and heading straight for AP then you might be clueless if something goes wrong.

I'd recommend that you KNOW at least basic energy sense, and manipulation, as well as shielding (and preferably more then one type of shield) before trying AP. Having your physical body shielded in such an endeavor certainly can't be bad...and the techniques certainly can't hurt by practicing them on the other-side

I actually have very little experience on the astral plain so ummm...heed my advice with this knowledge.
