Hello ^_^

We have added a wiki to the site, it is somewhat integrated to the forum, so, if you log in to the forum, and then click the link to the wiki, it will log you into the wiki also.

Additionally, you can add wikilinks to forum posts, by enclosing the title in square brackets, like [ [Reiki] ] (But wihout the extra spaces between the square brackets). This would link you to an article on [[Reiki]], which I started writing earlier.

You should also be able to link to some other wiki sites by putting, for example:
wikipedia:Reiki
inside double square brackets, to link to [[wikipedia:Reiki|wikipedia article on Reiki]]. Also works for wikinews, wiktionary, wikisource, and wikibooks.

We should probably try to agree on some [[Editing guidelines]], and write up an article on it.

What is Kia Metaphysical Wiki?

A Wiki is a good idea, it makes it easy to find the information you want. But I am not sure how one can completely leave point of view out of it when it comes to the Occult as on very many topics there are no general consensus and all one have is a general idea and different points of view.

*Cats are magical, the more you pet them the longer you both live--Unknown
*The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper--Eden Phillpotts

Such writing is possible, but it is approached from a more academic viewpoint, rather than a personal one. Here is a link to Kia metaphysical wiki, with plenty of non POV articles on occultism and magic. be warned, though. the site is owned by Anton Channing, and he is a chaote, so there is a chaote theme to some of the writings.

An update: the recent forum upgrade has broken the wikilinking feature, I'm working on restoring it and will let you know once it's working again.

I remember AntonChanning from the old OF.com.Cool site he has.

Sorry, I've been meaning to post here for a while, but I get a little distracted along the way sometimes. Those guidelines sound pretty good, I may copy them to the [[Editing guidelines]] article, with your consent, after I get the wikilinks working again :D

OK, so I've managed to get the basic wiki links working, those are the [ [Standard] ] Wiki links (remove extra spaces to work it), however the more advanced links (such as those with alternate text, and those that link to other sites) are still not working too great. I'll need to brush up on Regular Expressions to improve it further, but it's certainly a start :D

make an editing guidelines thread, or we can discuss it here before it gets put into the wiki..throw around some basic ideas on what would be useful and fair guidelines.

the addition of a wiki to a site should really help with the search engine rankings, plus the articles would be useful to reference here on the site.

=( The wikitags seem to be broken again, I think I'm going to cry lol.

Anyway, Your contributions to this thread are invaluable, VenusSatanas, I think the review council would likely be a good idea, and I think it's probably OK to discuss and figure out the editing guidelines in this thread.

Categories are a very good idea, and it's probably best practise to start categorising content now while there's little of it, and maintain a policy of categorising content as it's posted.

I may look into making the discussion page link back to the forum, it would, if nothing else, be an interesting step towards encouraging "The Mashup", which is regarded as a defining feature of Web2.0 (I fully appreciate how much of a buzzword that is :P ); whereby multiple differing platforms are made to work together harmoniously.

We should probably think about the categories somewhat; Perhaps something similar to the forum categories? Or something wholly new?

exactly, every page should at least belong to one category. This means that we should have several major categories along with sub-categories. as a note, wiki suggests to 'Categorize articles by characteristics of the topic, not characteristics of the article.' which sounds good to me; it narrows it down to a specific category.

Also, each category page should have a brief description and not left blank.

Quirk of the software: the previous version would allow you to edit any post, regardless of owner, so it was switched off because of the potential havoc it could play. I'll do some tests on the upgraded version and see if it can be switched on now, will update you later.
