In Need of Proof
In Need of Proof
I'm just a guy trying to find answers. I want to live in a world where magic is real, where possession and bodyswaping and immortality is possible. But I can't find any real, definitive proof. If anyone can help, please do so. I need Answers.

In Need of Proof
People spend there whole lives researching magic, finding enlightenment, or discovering the world. Some of us are in search for immortality; some of us are in search for the meaning of life. Is magic real? I couldn't tell you. I'm not the man who can answer that. Do I believe that supernatural things exist in this world, yes, I do believe that. Magic bends the very reality that we live in, by very definition.
1) "The use of means (such as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces." (Webster's Dictionary)
To be honest, this is something pretty hard to prove. Real or not, how can I prove this to you. Some of us would love to live in the Dungeons and Dragon world, or the Harry Potter world, where magic is powerful, and the limits to our powers seemingly endless in possibilities! It'd be fun. But in my experiences, magic doesn't work like that in this world. Maybe one day, the secret behind magic will be unlocked, maybe you will be the one to unlock it's secrets. Maybe even science will unlock these mysteries.
If you think logically on a subject that is so "illogical"... don't expect to find logical answers. Proof.

Re: In Need of Proof
All i can say is, if you truly believe that magic is real and that anything is possible, pursue it. Make your life magical in any way you can. However if you feel you should not waste you're time, don't. You won't find anything unless its real in your heart, mind , and soul. You can't just say to yourself "yeah magic is real, im gunna go be immortal guys, cya." You have to make it your life.
My philosophy is that if you truly believe something is real, it is.
To your average christian, god is real and so is heaven and hell. To the Buddhist, reincarnation and reaching toward enlightenment to become a part of the universe is real.
Make magic real, and it will be.
just my 2 cents.

Mmm, I rarely ever practice magick or I practice it 24/7. Take your pick. Would you consider divination magick?
I'm highly gifted in precognition. I know for fact magick, or whatever you want to call it, is real. Though I am gifted in precognition, the information I receive through divination is only a fraction of the real potential. Most people do not try to control their precognition, so what happens is that they leave it undeveloped in its fetal stage. My precognitive ability is maturing at an exceedingly fast rate, which changing the end fate of an individual I know resulted in the individual's absolute corruption. That is how advanced my precognitive abilities are, which the information received is intelligent in nature.
Now, you want a pretty spell? Some sort of proof? I'll share a secret, which many will probably now bash me for saying. The best spell is the one you craft yourself. You have to understand how spells function. Spells and rituals are only psychological factors in boosting your belief that it will work, so they amplify your energy. Likewise, they help you focus on your intent. In a sense, it is kind of like mind over matter. The catch is that the matter part doesn't apply just to your body, it applies to the entire universe.
Willpower is the key. That is all you need. You have to know it is real, without any doubt or you will not reach your full potential and many, if not all, spell attempts will be ineffective.
You would like a spell for immortality? The truth is you already are immortal, but you just don't know it because you can't remember. That makes such a spell laughable.

Re: In Need of Proof
Hi Mason18,
The subject of proof and belief is by no means restricted to the occult, and in fact proof is difficult to come by for even very accepted things that we hold true in the everyday world.
A brief study of epistemology (the philosophy of knowledge and truth) will reveal to you that there are any number of problems in finding 'truth'. Here are some examples: How do you know that your sense organs (eyes, ears etc) are giving you accurate information? If other people corroborate the information from your sense organs, how can you trust that, as it too is processed through them? The issue here is that what you experience every day is your brains interpretation of reality rather than reality itself. Depending on your metaphysical stance, it may be impossible for you to come into contact with the world 'as it really is'.
I mention all of this because it's very easy to say things like "Oh, I tried summoning a demon and nothing happened, I guess magick is not real and life is quite boring." Magick may not be real, and life may be boring. that is for the individual to discover. But, until you've wrestled with the issues above (and many more mystical and philosophical problems) it is dangerous to assume that you know anything about the world outside your head (it is controversial as to whether you ever can, in fact).
Dr John Lilly (I believe) suggests that we are in a 'concensus trance' which basically means that the species has come up with a view of the world, and that our brains edit reality to conform with it. According to the doc, many strange things happen to us regularly that we 'edit out' of our conscious experience.
I would strongly suggest, if you are interested in pursuing the study of your own experience and the nature of reality (and whether or not magick exists) that you read the following two books: on the subject of magick, read Grant Morrissons 'Pop Magick', and on the subject of the brain and reality, read Robert Anton Wilson's 'Prometheus Rising'. I believe both are available, for free, on the internet. You should google them.
All the best,
EF

Hello Mason18
Being able to prove something requires the highest level of knowledge. IMHO its better for you to look at some beginning magic and start there. Start with simple spells, and get a feel for it, then it would be a lot easier to start to explain the big stuff. The way I got into the occult was pondering what else exists besides combinations of elements that can be found on a periodic table. Try going through a dictionary and identify the meanings of words by their physical elements. This simple experiment will force you to face the fact that the world goes far beyond the material world. Using concepts to understand the non-material world is necessary, but still only the beginning.
