spells, ceremonies and magick
Hey guys, I recently bought a book entitled "The complete book of spells, ceremonies and magic" by Migene González-Wippler and I want to know what you think of it. My review is, it's kind of sketchy and definitely not the best book you want to buy in your first time. In the book the YHVH is spelled with an "I" instead of "Y". I find the original version a bit official and not changed, also the kabalistic correspondences the God names of the different sephiroht instead of using YHVH they changed it to Jehovah. I want to know if these changes are ok or are they supposed to be in their original lettering and pronunciation.
My will is power, my word is law.

The book sounds sketchy. Jehovah can be transliterated as YHVH, IHVH, or JHVH because the Hebrew letter "Yod" can equally be seen as Y, I, or J. Referring to the Tetragrammaton as "Jehovah," however, completely strips it of its meaning. The tetragrammaton only has meaning as YHVH/JHVH/IHVH, and if they refer to it predominantly as "Jehovah," they probably do not understand the tetragrammaton. Since the study of the elemental key, which is contained in the YHVH formula, is the first stage of basic neophyte training, it seems such an author would have little valuable knowledge.
Unfortunately, many of the Golden Dawn attributions to the Sephiroth are wrong in the first place, and these are the attributions other modern authors copy. Don't bother yourself with the common Golden Dawn version of the Tree of Life, as it is a brutal mutilation of the original Hebrew Kabbalah. Many of the attributions were given almost randomly, it seems, without an understanding of the underlying forces. Furthermore, in most traditions the Kabbalah is an advanced system that is saved for later training, after one has already reached adepthood. You would do well to master basic training first -- controlling and purifying the mind, working with energies, etc. I assume you have not done this yet because if you had, you would not be looking for instruction from books, but rather directly from spiritual beings!
I recommend Franz Bardon's "Initiation Into Hermetics" for people interested in Hermeticism. It is the only publicly available, complete aspirant-level training manual that I have found. This book, in my mind, gives the proper order of training: master the basics in a holistic manner, THEN proceed to ritual work. The added benefit of this training is that your rituals can be significantly simpler, with less tools etc., because you have the proper magical authority when you step into the ritual room. If you would prefer to start with ceremonial magic, there are a few good Golden Dawn orders out there with good instruction too, but most, in my experience, seemed like charlatans.
In the end, learning from a book will only get you so far. Imagine trying to learn physics or martial arts exclusively from a book!

Thank you for your information and as for your opinion. For your information if you are talking about astral projection, lucid dreaming, or meditating. I am in the midst of training into that. Do not follow the assumption for it can lead to misunderstanding. If you would have "advanced" Training you would have found that in order to find your "TRUE WILL" as listed in some books of Aleister Crowley. You would see that you need to erase the ego for it isnt your true self, Freud called it the "id". Assumptions in common sense is a part of the ego as you listen rather than answering without the question. Therefore, you cannot say someone is not under the appropriate training because you don't know anything about that person. It's like saying "That can lay eggs" when it is an elephant. You don't know anything about that person yet you say loudly something you do not know.
Also, It is stupid saying that someone is not trained properly because they read books. What if you read it and you learn something that "another" system you learned from is wrong? hence, everyone needs books. The Bible, The Torah, The Kabbalah, the different libers are examples of NEEDED and ESSENTIAL books. It would be stupid to not read books as some of our "High Adepts" like Jesus has his story on print. Are you saying that you would do all that effort on A.P and do lots of training rather than buying a printed copy? Sure it is worth it but not for the mundane people. Are you saying anyone that doesn't take guide from spirit beings are not in proper training? It's like asking the teacher all your topics while they are all in the books.
I don't know why you would think that but it is just absurd. Are you saying it because you don't have the luxury to buy books or your "EGO" took over you. All of the Adepts were silent but they were also humble and willing to learn from other people. It is impossible to be an adept in a universal point of view as there are too many things to take in, in 1 lifetime. Also I am initiated to the so called "Minor Adeptus" in my order "non-golden dawn"
