I propose Post-Chaos Magic
I propose Post-Chaos Magic
In this forum, I'm frequently contradicting almost anything that anyone says about chaos magic because my magical path has moved beyond even the streamlined, free form, DIY nature of the generally accepted practices known under that umbrella.
Noticing how stark the contrast is between myself and almost every other chaos magician I've met/talked to, I'm beginning to realize that my paradigm no longer fits with chaos magic in general, despite my identification with the path and my endless nostalgia for the MU. This prompts me to the (perhaps premature) conclusion that either chaos magicians are not fully understanding the implications of their own paradigm, or that I have simply evolved a new paradigm that is even more bare-bones than almost any other.
I'm at a loss for a good name for this personal school of mine, but I'm inclined to call it Post-Chaos Magic, because it represents the ultimate destiny of that magical path (ie no tools, no rituals, barely any spells at all, just insight and raw mind power).
I feel that this "ultimate destiny" would be supported and embraced by the founders of chaos magic as we know it (Peter Carroll, Ramsey Dukes, etc) if I could lay it out for them. Unfortunately, it's also built on a lifetime of philosophical introspection and a very specific set of conclusions about the nature of magic that I've never set down on paper before. I'll try to write it all out coherently, but I figure that I can post this now, add additional content later, and hopefully all of you will have interesting points or questions to discuss that will help me figure it out in a nice orderly fashion.
Thoughts?

Go for it - I for one will be interested to discuss this, since I seem to have come to a similar place over 20+ years of research!
"The world is made of many pages
And every page contains a world
We flicker through them in the daytime
But in the night become unfurled."

Sounds interesting!
Ofcourse, this could just be a product of being a part of a self-directed paradigm, and as such, when no longer even following the community paradigm, realizing that when you are on a self-directed path, that you're the only one on it.

Re: I propose Post-Chaos Magic
I am the only one on it, as far as I can tell, Occultess. I'm only bringing it up because:
1. I want to "convert" everyone
and
2. It represents the philosophical/theoretical endgame of chaos magic and therefore should be written about. It would be a disservice to magicians to permit/expect them to continue practicing "chaos magic" when my path is clearly much closer to the general intent and spirit of the whole thing. Not to mention how much easier and more accessible it makes chaos magic to the uninitiated.
That said, I didn't work on writing anything formal at all yet. I'm being a rather lazy reptile now that the sun's disappeared. XD

Re: I propose Post-Chaos Magic
I'd be interested in knowing what you would liken your techniques to, in terms of what many people will already know about, is what you are doing similar in some ways to manifestation and things like that or very different, just wondering from what you said about no rituals raw mind power etc
thanks
thanks

Do what thou will bears ever more 2 mind.. however there can be no "conversion" as we each have a our unquie p.o.v on life/death/love/fear, that is to say even though we all have the "light bearer" in us *wink,wink".. Mr.Crowley aka the Beast in a nutshell said, that losing the self ego(that constant comparions mechanism called the sub conscious in sum circles) .. You shall be of gods(Tree of Life)... Think solomons Temple "Santcum Santorum" = imagination = pure power..... I think therefore I am

Re: I propose Post-Chaos Magic
The only thing that it can be likened to, that I've heard of anyway, is making a wish and watching/making it come true. No ritual, meditation or anything that takes more than two minutes is required. It's just taking the time to understand the things that must change in order for you to get your wish and then willing them to do so.
However, there is a lot of theoretical and ideological background that makes this possible. Without having something akin to my definition of magic and a suitable understanding of how it works, your results might be pretty pathetic.
Although, actually, I was just writing out an example and realized that I am not doing anything magical in a sense that anyone would find interesting. I am simply ridiculously good at getting what I want when I'm certain that I do, in fact, want it.
So, I think I've just convinced myself once and for all that magic is bullshit. o.o I retract all posts I've ever made.
Although my studio is haunted now... unless I'm hallucinating, which is likely.

Well you did say once that when you start hallucinating you'd give up magick for good. So we've come full circle then? [grin]
What else could have knocked over that vial?
