I've been reading the tarot for a few months now, and doing readings for friends who are interested. One of my friends told me that he felt very much healed by a reading that I did, and now he says that he views me as a healer. This confused me a bit, as I thought that the tarot was a tool for divination, so I told him "no, tarot is divination, not healing." However, a bit after that, I went onto Google and discovered that a lot of people do consider the tarot a healing tool. The healing tarot websites that I've found on Google seem to be of the New Age variety, which I'm not so into.
I'm not sure if I should put this in divination or healing, but the divination subforum seems to be more active. Can divination be a healing art? Has the tarot always been that way, or is this a recent New Age development? Are tarot readers healers?
Can the tarot be a healing tool?
Can the tarot be a healing tool?

It's interesting, I suppose I'd never thought of it like that before, what spread were you using?
Just making stuff up, but I suppose you could design a healing spread, with cards for problems and cards for remedies, or you could change the cards after they're dealt, if you don't consider it cheating
I've never thought of a tarot reading itself as being a healing thing before, but I'm willing to entertain the possibility.. I guess a tarot session could be seen as therapeutic for the enquirant; it gives us some sense of insight or perhaps closure, and that can be a deeply healing experience in and of itself.
I'm not sure though, I mean, it could very well be that you are a healer irrespective of tarot, and it's just an avenue of manifestation for your healing. Do you do any other kinds of healing or notice any other healing effects that happen around you?

I used the Celtic Cross spread, nothing that fancy.
I don't do any specific kinds of healing right now, but I do think of myself as the healing-type, most people agree than once person agrees. I think I like this idea.
