Goetic role-playing game?

Post by 5kinr »

So, in Kraig's Modern Magick (Third Edition), he talks about a tabletop RPG that he found that contains invocations from the Ars Goetia, and markers that are actually some of the seals/sigils from said book.

I can completely understand why he didn't want to put the name of the game, and he said it was very obscure, but...anyone know where I can find it? [devil] Or at least some more information on it, since I don't even have a title to go on. Having something like this in my RPG collection would be a very guilty pleasure, for the same reason that some people collect vintage propaganda or used explosives.

Not sure when that edition of the book was released (terrible book, please burn it!) but I did find this game from 2009 (?)

Might have been some of the In Nomine stuff ... it was in print back then (might still be) and I remember that they stole some of the demon names from the Goetia -- Haagenti was a the Demon Prince of Gluttony, if I remember correctly.

Hmm...don't think it's Mythicum Goetia, as the website describes it as a board/card game. It also talks about a print release in future tense, and considering the forums are literally empty except for a status announcement, I doubt this game reached print. (Besides, as far as I know, Lovecraft never referenced the Goetia.)

Could be one of the In Nomine books, but there's not really a good way to find out. Thanks, though.

Maybe try going to a gaming store. Like where they would sell Dungeons and Dragons books and Vampire: The Masquerade and things like that. The people there (employees, owners, and/or patrons) are going to include RPG enthusiasts and you might find atleast one that remembers the game or has atleast heard of it.

Or otherwise try finding a RPG game collector online that you could ask.

Might also go ask the forums at Giant in the Playground -- it's a huge RPG forum.
