nth Aethyr - quickie question

Post by maanskyn »

Can someone please explain to me what is meant by an Aethyr, both generally and when numbered, as in the 10th, 12th etc? I gather it's something to do with levels on (of?) 'the' etheric plane... although I don't fully understand what I mean by that. I've only heard the term in reference to Crowley

In-depth answers are as welcome as simple pointers in the right direction. Thanks!

It's a term used in Enochian working,as far as I'm aware..

It refers to planes of existance, basically.[very basically]

This broadcast may offer you some information. Personally, I don't know a great deal about Enochian magick. From what I understand, it may not be the best place to begin one's path in magick.

This is the problem with every paradigm - its hard to break into them without some knowledge of how magic works. At its initiate level, Thelema is rather simple - its just breathing exercises and visualisation techniques, much like chaos magic in regards to Liber MMM. At its advanced stage, any magical system becomes difficult for people with no knowledge of the occult - its simply a case of starting out small and building up to the harder rituals etc.

Of course, in a perfect world people would start out small, like candle magic for instance, and build up to the more complex rituals over time. That said, we all know that people prefer to jump in at the hard level because its more interesting, then they get no results and decide that its all a load of bollocks and quit.

Thanks! these are useful links. So the World of the Aethyrs, along with the Elemental Watchtowers = a map of the universe comparable to the sephiroth and the paths of the Tree of Life. But not so much - at least as far as Crowley's investigations in Mexico, more an exploration of the inner worlds of psychedelic experience

Very interesting
