Middle Eastern Occultist Info

Post by CaseMax »

Hi all,

Another question for anyone who might have answers:

I'm trying to find the names of any famous Middle Eastern Occultists (who is the Aleister Crowley or Eliphas Levi of the Middle East?) Is their any known Middle Eastern Black Magick practices or anything associated with the like??? So far all I've been able to find with any substance is Michael Ford's books & it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Any help is of course, greatly appreciated.

Well, if you try to get into middle eastern magick I would recommend to lock also at the islamic tradition of magick. Officilly banned by the priests, but still there is one. Quran and the hadiths give small hints, but more prescise things you will find in the works of sufism and of course also in the internet.
If you ask me, Mohammed himself was the greatest "black magician" this place has ever seen considering black magician is defined as manipulating people to obey and spread your system with force, bringing violence where ever it goes. Also in a strict sense he managed to become immortal in a wicked way (similar to the christian saints). Don´t take me for a foe of islam, I just find it fascinating how a single person, a conqueror of course, made his way through worlds history. However, this magickal practice is worth a look but beware of the Marids [wink]

Thank you for your insight Ramscha. But please explain about the Marids & your warning. Do you just mean to stay away from invocation of Jinns?

Actually I don't plan to practice anything. I just need information, Marids welcome.

On 2nd look, I see that could have just been a light hearted joke. I don't always read emotions correctly when looking at people's written text.

Aleister crowley is a very interesting occultist and had influence a lot of artist like the beatles but especially marilyn manson. I'v got 2 of his books in pdf (the book of lies and the confession of aleister crowley) if you want I can send them to you. He thought that he was the resurection of eliphas levi del not only because of the inspiration that eliphas gives him but also because he was born the same year that eliphas died (1875). Aleister crowley really change the modern satanic occultism especially with the concept of the abbey of thelema. But in terms of black magick I don't really know a lot of stuff. A lot of asian cultures have (yoga philosophy, bouhdist) wich also inspired a lot aleister crowley have a lot of common points with the satanic philosophy, the representation of the baphomet can be found in asian cultures but in terms of occultist I would sugest you John dee, aleister crowley, eliphas levi del, but if you really wanna know about occultism you have to check on websites and read books and stuff but not by looking for a specific person. But this section of nachkabarett (marilyn manson's website) have a lot of interesting arcitle about occultism and a lot of name are mention:
About the occult: http://www.nachtkabarett.com/theOccult
about alchemy: http://www.nachtkabarett.com/AlchemyAndKabbalah

good luck [wink]

CaseMax, have you ever looked at the Picatrix? It's been translated from Arabic to Latin to English. I think some of its magic involves using a severed head for scrying. So yeah, I don't know how practical it is. I've never read it, but it's supposed to be a classic.
