Unexplainable residue?

Post by autodydact »

So, I've had a copy of the goetia sitting on my desk for a little while now. I went to move it yesterday to find that the back cover (which was facing up) had a strange, sticky residue on it. It was about the consistency of honey and smelled sweet too, but not like anything I'd smelled before... Now, only I have access to that desk as there is a lock on the door and I never eat in there, so a spilled drink or similar is out. I haven't actually been working with the book, just reading it out of interest. I know this sounds like a troll post, but I hope the nature of my posts in General will convince you that I'm not one for fabricating fabulous stories...

Is it in direct sunlight?
Maybe residue glue from the book that has melted.

And sometimes, weird things happen.

My first assumption on most things of this nature is not a supernatural one. But, I will make a mental note of it and go from there. Sometimes, however, as Rose Red said, weird things do happen. Several years ago I found the sageo on my of the swords partially unwound. I had not had any contact with it, nor had anyone else and there are no mice here. Is this some elemental playing around? Could be, I simply hold the possibility and don't settle on any one option outside of more information.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I agree that there is most likely a natural explanation for this, but as yet can't pin one down. Perhaps there is some elemental at work here for its own reasons... It's hardly the most sinister of things. I'll try an lbr and unless there are more odd happenstances, think nothing more of it...
