So, that idea I mentioned in my HGA thread, to make a mask involving a sigil that I scried, did not really work out. My girlfriend and I both did tarot readings on the subject, and they both strongly suggested that I should not use the mask, and that there was a fundamental misunderstanding involved. It was totally right, after rereading liber LXV and doing more research, I was definitely misunderstanding things.
I have a habit of doing this kind of thing, rushing in before I really know what I'm doing, and taking too much of a masculine penetrative approach to things when a more receptive approach would be more useful. This mask has come to symbolize these bad habits, and the interference of the ego.
To work on bettering myself in this respect, I've been practicing scrying on the regular and invoking Selene to balance out the more feminine energies in myself, and help me learn to be more receptive. It seems to be working pretty well, but before I move on to my next project I have one more operation I'd like to perform.
I'm going to ritualistically burn that mask, symbolizing letting go of my old ways of going about things, moving on to a new chapter, and working to be better about not letting the ego get in the way of my work. So far I'm thinking about basing the ritual on the formula of INRI/IAO, separating it into three sections, Isis, Apophis, and Osiris.
The Isis section would represent my current state, and the problems as they exist now. I plan to wear the mask in this part. In the second part, Apophis, is when I will burn the mask, and I would like to represent the death of the parts of me that are holding me back from continuing further. I'm thinking that I'm going to heavily emphasize the death part, referencing the ancient egyptian idea of the crocodile Apep devouring the souls of those who aren't worthy to enter the afterlife. The third part, Osiris, would be like rising from the dead, like a rebirth, or like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
I have the main ideas sketched out, but I'm having a hard time fleshing out the ritual. Does anybody have any suggestions or advice? Or even like rituals or books that I could take a look at for inspiration?
Suggestions for a ritual that I'm working on
Re: Suggestions for a ritual that I'm working on
I'm actually setting this project aside. I think I have found a better way of accomplishing this, but we shall see what happens.
