Necromancy & Spirits

Hey I need some help from people who practice spirit work, generally with human spirits who are now dead. I have a friend who is a ceremonial necromancer and he said that you can not do any type of spellwork with the dead. I work with my ancestors and I was wondering if this was true. He said it took a lot of energy to help the dead manifest something in the real world.

I would like to know if this is possible and how hard this could be, also if you are experienced with working spells with the dead please let me know [yay]

You can do spellwork with the dead. I'm not sure about ceremonial necromancy but it's not uncommon in hoodoo. In my own tradition you'd develop a relationship with the guardian spirits of a local cemetery, then do ritual to attract a dead spirit who is still there and wants to help you. It also helps if you have scrying or divination skills to communicate with the spirit, otherwise you're just left guessing whether they took the work or not. You pay the spirit for the work, often a physical payment combined with prayer or guidance toward their ascent. There are other methods using relics but better not to share in a public forum since horrible grave robbing people do exist. And your ancestors are your first line of protection and often most eager to work for you so it's great to develop that relationship first. For many reasons I rarely do necromantic spellwork, but when I have it's been quite effective.

Of course it's difficult for them to manifest or work on the physical plane due to the obvious lack of a physical body, but many can work just fine on the etheric and astral planes. Some have access to more knowledge on these planes than we do.
