Offering for demon ( 20 years of life and after that i will

Post by loifd »

Hey guys. I read somewhere that is possible to make a pact with demon like that i told him, if he fullfil my wishes he can take my life and soul after twenty years. Some ultimate payment you know. I heard that many demons agree with this type of payment. It sounds like Faustus tale.Did really exist agreement like this? Is possible to make a pact with demon with this payment and offering?

Well, the legends and stories would assume it is so and there are many of them. So many folk tales place magickians and other great or powerful people as being pacted to 'The Devil' or demons, in some way, from the middle ages up till very recently.

We have a fair few here, in Scotland, especially regarding men of science and the arts. One of ours is the Great Warlock Michael Scot, who rode a hell horse to France and back in one night, for instance. He was in the service of the Holy Roman Emperor at the time, so a 'great' man he was indeed, powerful in court circles and holding the favour of the most powerful man in all of Europe at the time. He was said to be in league with 'The Devil' and to have sold his soul, as had the Emperor Frederick and indeed also, Wee Old Pope Honorious as well. A lot of it about apparently, in the early 1200s.

John Napier the inventor of Logarithms was known as a warlock also and said to have pacted or sold his soul for his great knowledge, but he often sneered at those who were so superstitious and openly mocked them. So maybe not, after all. But legends once created, do tend to persist.
At various points in time, such an accusation could be dangerous to life and limb and there is the case for propaganda here, especially where a reputation for sorcery was aquired post mortem, as this usually for the purposes of slighting the name or work of the accused individual.

It is an interesting avenue to explore, but one that requires critical thinking.

Well, why would a demon want your life if it's not worth anything.

I thought soul not life. That after some time, demon came to take your life after he fullfil your wishes and your soul will be his. I read that many demons agree to this terms of pact.

For work? Spirits of the dead can be commissioned for various purposes and some demons are said to command legions of shades.

Exactly. Legions. Why do they need a single individual when they already have an entire army. Why add just another foot soldier. Especially if it's a sinner that's going to hell anyway.

How do you think they collected those legions? Of course they'll add another foot soldier if the terms of the bargain are in their favor (and they usually are since people tend to have a much weaker understanding of time than demons do). Shades can be used to torment the living, haunt locations, and a bunch of other uses we probably don't even know about.

A bad life is a way of using a "life". Just like a good one. If I buy a car, I wouldn't care that it had an owner who didn't like driving it. Essence is essence. Life is life. Right?

There are folk out there in the greater world who claim to have sold their souls and lots of information is available online and in books to those who wish to emulate them. I don't think it is happening literally, but that is just my own opinion on it and I know there are others who accept and believe this is real. There is a wealth of literature on the subject and it is a story that goes back to the early middle ages, re: Theophilus of Adana and so on.

You do ask interesting questions, loitfd. [thumbup]

I would assume [from my own reding on this subject, mostly] that the exchange is wanted by the demon or devil concerned, no matter the social status or condition of the bargainer. If we look at an example, say, Robert Johnson, the deal brings fame and money, so the devil can, it would seem, profit from taking a 'no mark' and making them a 'big cheese'. Perhaps that is the ideal situation, for such pacts?

Paganini was claimed to have sold his soul also, it's actually quite common a story among the creative fields and has been around for a long time in Western culture. The builidng up of a poor bargainer and the giving of genius level or highly valued skills, the ability to do very well in situations, it would seem the 'lesser' the life is by societal standards, the more useful it actually is for the demon.

This is another story, of the type, the theme here is very common too, the bargainer seeks to renege, or break the contract, but needs a quick mind to help them do so...most of the folk tales are of poor or otherwise disenfranchised people, who the devil helps to 'make good' in life, over time.
