Community Outreach

Post by WildWolf »

I was looking at other forums and noted that some of them have twitter accounts and other social media profiles. So I wonder, would those managing the forum, have any desire to do community outreach, so that the forum can get more exposure? Naturally, having a social media presence can be disastrous for businesses (bad PR), so it would have to be managed appropriately, with candor.

It appears to me, that the forum is huddled up in its own pocket on the internet, without much circulation and could use a bit more sunlight. What say thee forum masters?

(TL/DR: Unfortunately neither me nor Borealis currently have time or energy for creating and maintaining presence on other platforms. Unless somebody, able and willing, would like to volunteer to lead expeditions in to new lands etc, I'm sure Borealis would like to have some extra hands on board.)

I wouldn't say it's a bad idea. OF engineering and janitorial department does however lack resources currently, for ventures beyond just bare minimum - of just keeping the lights on and maintaining the place in presentable state somewhat.

My current job and life sucks all life out me, so I just wouldn't be able to commit to anything beyond current responsibilities, and as far as I know Borealis is in no better place either atm, but both of us share common devotion to keep this place alive regardless of our personal circumstances.

This is an ancient place (in internet sense of time), running on old technology and black magic, it requires devotion from somebody with certain set of skills just to stay alive, to host forum on own server and maintain it etc.
Forum was almost completely lost of time more than once,. It was a blessing Borealis took on the responsibility to revive it, when nobody else could or would.

But for things beyond just keeping it alive, I think it would need another pair of hands with some passion, somebody who has time and energy, would be able and willing to try new things without any tangible reward. So if anyone is interested in all the vacant positions in our "PR & Marketing department" I'm certain Borealis will be trilled to expand the crew :D
