Re: What are your favorite single-focus techniques?

I didn't know who Istiphul was and just Googled it. Super cool!! I've always found water absolutely ecstatic and swimming around underwater is soo freeing.. often when I go to the pool with friends they think I'm slightly strange because I'll swim around and do flips and swirls the span of the entir...

Re: Can you train your visual memory?

I would say the most fun technique I've done to improve visual memory was a meditation technique where I would imagine myself somewhere very familiar and visceral. That is, you can associate other senses such as smell and sound to the location. Do this meditation to some soft ambient music if you wi...

Re: What are your favorite single-focus techniques?

Sensation of water is my favorite. Often I'll sit in the shower (yes, sit haha) and just focus on the hot water hitting my body, flowing through it, and imagining it to be a source of energy. Other times I'll displace my mental imagery to be in some sort of tropical island and imagine sitting under ...

Re: hermetic qabalah

Starting from Malkuth seems logical but in every source I've read starting from Kether seems to be the common practice. The reason for this is that to start from Kether you gain better philosophical knowledge of the Supernal Triad, and that relationship emnates all the way down(up?) to Malkuth and t...

Re: Poke Runyon?

I agree with the above posts. Poke's take on occultism is exactly what the practice of magick is all about: will and imagination. He takes elements from renaissance magick, alchemy, Egyptian magick and mythology, and the qabalah to produce a novel method of practice that is coherent. And it makes se...

Re: Astral Projection

I am curious, why would you say your last experience was unsafe? Of all my experiences, the moment where I realize I can project I can't feel my breath and therefore think I'm dieing. Right before projection, it feels like my entire astral body is vibrating, or trying to "wiggle" out of my...

Astrology New Year's Day 2014: TAKE AIM, FIRE!

For the past 2 years or so, while everyone else was freaking out about December 21, 2012, I was outright gawking at January 1, 2014. Now I usually don't like to blow smoke when it comes to astrology, in fact I absolutely abhor it. But I have never been so perplexed and amazed at the apparent synergi...

Israel Regardie's take on Buddhism and Ceremonial Trance

Recently, I've read Israel Regardie's "Garden of Pomegranates," and there was a particular set of paragraphs that caught my attention.. (p. 144-145) Regardie describes the magickal principal of Buddhist Nirvana. Most interestingly, he produces a psychological theory for how this happens, t...

Re: Which is your favourite Tarot deck?

There's a fairly new deck by Godfrey Dowson called the Hermetic Deck. The downsides is that it is black and white, but I love the alchemical and astrological symbolism most cards have.

sorry for replying to myself but, it just clicked. Here I am talking about all the implications of individual stars with comparison to their own lifetimes and ours, and not doing anything about it. Re: Astrology

The argument of Sidereal (Babylonian, Vedic, Arabic) astrology vs. the Tropical (greek and western) astrology is so misunderstood, as there is no argument really whatsoever! It's like trying to compare Physicists and Chemists; they both learn about the exact same processes but in completely differen...

Re: Need advice on my Angel girlfriend

I agree with the two posts above me. Counselors and therapists can do only so much. What happened do you when you were 16 was your crisis-point. You switched sides, so to speak. In terms of Magick and who this person/angel or whatever is, just meditate on her. Look up the signs for the energies she ...

Astrology

So far I've yet to find a thread on Astrology around here. Astrology holds a very special place in my heart. While I was studying astrophysics in the university, a fellow student in a Medieval Philosophy course introduced me to occultism, Hermeticism, and most notably astrology! The horoscope he gav...

Re: Hello, I'm new to hearing voices.

This is interesting! Every once and a while when I take too much Benadryl to go to sleep, I too hear these voices. They’re loud, clear and spontaneous voices that have little resemblance to how I think. Exactly! It's like chatter at a loud cafe or something, but the words form no intelligible form o...

I did it. I popped out of my body!

So here's what happened. I was drifting off to sleep the other day, well I hadn't slept in 2 days because I'm an insomniac. I noticed as I was drifting asleep, I would go in and out of "consciousness" if that makes sense. Like, one moment I was in my bed, then the next moment I noticed thi...

Beautiful symbolism. I only wish more Christians would not fall back to idolizing the trinity as it is so common today. Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, they are all names an games which have gone through many, many translations. In turn, Christianity tends to resort to Paganism, the worshiping of an en...

Re: The Lesser Key Of Solomon - real or fake?

I've been reading a blog from a Goetic magician who's been practicing the art of Goetian Evocation following the grimoire's specifications tooth and nail! His name is John R. King IV, he's written several books, and every several months or so he write a complete journal-blog entry on what was asked ...

Re: Expanding time-perception

I'd like to add onto what Moon Sage just said. Time is a very strange thing, and as we get older, yes, time seems to "speed up." The reason for this is because the way the human mind measures time is by comparison. Time does not truly flow, they are merely comparisons from one frame to ano...

Re: VIRGO and LEO, a story of the creation of the Divine

And so to explain this metaphorical story, and what I'm trying to get at, I present to you the Grand Theory of Paradox God is omnipotent, as well as omniscient and omnipresent. That god is the One, the Man. The Grand Paradox Theory is a theory of systems. Each system is cyclical in manner. When one ...

VIRGO and LEO, a story of the creation of the Divine

First of all, I'm a materialist and a spiritualist, and I believe there must be a connection between the two. I study Astrophysics and Philosophy, and one day I was convicted by this following relation, that a God within us exists and dictates everything, yet metaphysically exists in the area of act...

I think the debate may be the gravity of the "habit" OP is talking about, like what's been discussed. Habits, like biting one's nails, or not brushing your teeth at night, slouching or WHATEVER, are all physiological habits that have nothing to do with deep psychological or emotional distr...

Alright, thanks for the advise. It's been nearly 3 days without sleep, but perhaps the simplest answer would be for me to get out and keep extremely active. When I was in Basic for the AF I slept like a baby [lol]... I guess like anything, it takes an immense amount of Will.
