Enlighten the Inexperienced

Post by srd93 »

I'm new to occult as in this week, recently acquired acceptable skill at the LBRP, for those who don't know LBRP stands for the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. I need knowledge on a few topics of choice primarily in the fundamentals. I am an asshole for your information and if anyone with less knowledge then me tries to act tough I will Logic them up the ass. For all practitioners of common sense this will not be a problem [yay] Now onward to my real agenda:

-first and foremost I require protection. It is the very reason I began practicing the LBRP when I master the skill I expect great things but it will take a few more days at the least
-secondly I need knowledge on truth magic, effectively clairvoyance in some aspects but ultimately an implement of faith, personally at least any other opinions I am open to again I hate stupid people..... not that open guys sorry
-third how do I acquire and maintain raw magical energy within my body, and or imbue it within possessions such as swords, clothes, and jewelry I believe it is possible to insert energy into technological devices but.... I'm not reckless enough to even attempt no matter how minuscule
-forth and finally what are some excellent sources for information on all parts of the occult

Don't play me a fool I'm looking for advice, guidance, and entertaining conversation, pardon my paranoia pot is too heavy within me at this time and must needs excavate my bladder with utmost urgency

I think I'm in exactly the same position you are: novice who has had some minimal (but very encouraging) success in a few areas but needs direction to extend his abilities & skill-set. Fair description?

(Questions 1 and 2, I got nothing for you.)

I just got a copy of "Hands-On Chaos Magic" by Andrieh Vitimus, an it looks as though that's exactly the book I need for my purposes. Unfortunately, in spite of my handful of successful page 80-explorations, I find that I have to go back to page 12 and work up some extremely basic, unexciting, tedious-looking exercises in order to move forward.

"Condensed Chaos" by Phil Hine is another book that gets recommended in this context, but i haven't looked at it. 'Liber Null" by Peter Carroll did not seem to meet my needs; the Crowleyesque trappings that inform his mindset seem like they would be useful only to someone who was studying the arts in the company of a group of established adepts. Historically important, to be sure, but practical applications seem limited.

An exercise from the HOCM book for charging-up ones' magical energy runs approximately as follows;
1) Establish gnostic meditative state
2) Rub your hands together until they're all tingly and feel funny. After x-length of time spent rubbing, separate your hands and concentrate on feelings of energy being communicated between one hand and the other. (During repeated experiments, you're instructed to hold your hands at different distances from each other to gain more detailed sensory understanding of a range of results.)
3) Work on distilling your sensations of energy being communicated between your hands into a discrete energy object in the air between your hands. There are further instructions after that about building a more highly-charged and powerful object, and on working with the idea that one hand will project energy and the other hand will draw energy from the environment into your personal sphere.

Hope that helps.

PS: You don't have to be a dick.

1. You require protection? The best protection is not being a twerp, like you are being now.
2. Faith does not equal magic. You're welcome.
3. Meditation and focus. Enchantment comes afterwards.
4. Don't read anything about Wicca.

Dude, this was funny as shit! [lol] I've been involved with occultism for 15 years now and if you can manage to master the LBRP in a week you must be an uber-mage :) But seriously, read Liber O by Crowley. This will give you further instruction in not only the LBRP but other basic ritual as well.

Yeah, the "I nearly mastered the LBRP" thing was pretty funny.

I think an excellent resource for starters would be to start with Regardie's Golden Dawn system of magic. Here is a free PDF of it.

find that I have to go back to page 12 and work up some extremely basic, unexciting, tedious-looking exercises in order to move forward.
What you described there is every system of magic. Ever. There is no system whereby you get to start doing cool shit and gain material results without first putting in a shitload of hours of training and effort, and anyone who claims otherwise is a lying asshole. Just gotta suck it up if you want results.

Yes, Rin, I realize that. It seemed like a good idea to remind the OP that that's the way things are.

I appreciate your understanding, and on a serious level I have acquired the power of "GOD". If you do not realize what that is, all is well, but I am now his prophet, for now, and must work in a certain direction until I evolve beyond it. In essence the key to power if nothing. Find your own answer, my son, and all will be well. Lol [yay] I'm glad someone understands albeit on a different wavelength. All will be grokked within time, my son.

You, I like and are excitingly close, more so than the "average 'MAN'", grow so you may become what you are. This is the essence of High Magic learn the truth and "absorb" the paradox, and in time absorb "nothing". I apologize if I move in spaces beyond my boundaries. I only wish to aid you in your journey.
